How long has the water been boiling? Seem to me there would have to be serious evaporation for any kind of mineral buildup to occur.
How about posting a pic of the phenomenon? If it's a matter of life and death, a visual might prove helpful.
Hopefully you won't decease. I certainly don't wish it, that would surely get me banned again...
