I can't stand listening to Koenig / Goodall. I don't find them any more knowledgeable than some of the people you are complaining about, and find them tedious and often annoying. So, to each, his or her own.

Dick Enberg (who is now retired) was in the category of the people who were under contract to do lots of different sports. There is no question most of them know little about tennis. But they never (to my knowledge) appear alone on any tennis broadcasts. They are always with a McEnroe or another specialist/former player. It's those people who really should know a lot more about the top players, in my opinion, whether they learn it on their own or have an assistant prepare them.

I'm not inferring that you are picking on anyone--I am just providing some factual information, along with my own subjective opinions. I just think you are painting with a broad brush when you throw a lot of people together in the same category.
