FBD Irish Open

Day 5 Report: Semi Finals

Josh Goodall def. James McGee 6-4 6-4

High quality match between the two but Goodall just completely dominated McGee from beginning to end. His serve was on fire, hitting aces in most of his service games. 1st serve percentage was the winning factor for josh in my opinion because when he got it in, James had no chance. McGee showed bottle however and came from 5-2 down to 5-4 but Goodall hung on to close out the 1st set. 2nd set was much closer but James was struggling to serve easy games where as Goodall barely had any trouble. At 3-3 McGee did well to fight of 5 break-points and go 4-3 up but Goodall got the crucial break at 4-4 and served it out with no bother holding to love.
Noticed again today that Goodall seems be a bit cocky and likes to moan every so often when he doesn’t like something. Bit of a drama queen imo.

Michael Look def. Albano Olivetti 6-3 6-4

Thought Olivetti would come through this unscaved with his big serve and game but Look surprised me. Michael hits the ball well for a small guy and conjured up some spectacular winners from the baseline passing Olivetti at the net multiple times. Albano played well at times but was rare compared to a consistent level headed Look who frustrated his opponent with his flat forehands in particular. Mid-way through the match Olivetti got very upset with a line call and muttered continuously. He never really recovered from that and Look broke him at 5-4 to take the match.
