Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

lmao Balazs beating Silva 6-1 so far, maybe too much Croatian party for Julio ;)

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

Pedro Sousa (the only player who won a set to D-Pot in Estoril) is getting cofident. He got the game, and it seems he's getting his head into to it. 6-3 6-4 against Patience! I expect dozens of places up in the rankings, with this 9 points, and (who knows?) even more.

FORÇA PEDRO!

Yes, very strange retirement to say at least. Or it must be very serious, or seems like someone is not learning the lessons of crazy Dani...

balazs :hearts:

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

Eric was serving for the match at *5-4 and lost it, and then just ended the match really afterward. I'm guessing a mental injury as much as physical.

Dominant wins for Balasz, Junqueira and Guez. I'm very surprised about Guez winning that easily. Polaco usually puts forth better efforts than that.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

Lorenzi playing now, up a break in the first set at 5-*3. Wonder if he can back up his nearly beating Rafa in Rome result or if he'll just go back to mediocrity.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

Lorenzi won it 6-3 6-4. Comfortable victory.

Match of the tournament is tomorrow, between Kavcic v Dancevic.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

thanks moder for the results =)

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

Lorenzi won it 6-3 6-4. Comfortable victory.
Comfortable only by the scoreline.
Metkic had 2 break points, early in the 1st set, then fell apart after not converting them, from 3-3 to 6-3.
This continued in 2nd set. However Lorenzi game was much weaker in 2nd set, making Metkic way back with re-break for 4-4.
How Metkic lost his last service game is better not to talk about.Overall the real differnce in this match was "head" only.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

OK, now few words about tournament in general.
I have to correct myself (previous report), as the organizers put some +- 100 seats for the central court.
This is of course just for the tournament.
General sponsor of the event is local oil industry "INA".
People are obviosly not amused with a whole thing as the most atractive match yesterday Mektic-Lorenzi was followed with
about 40 to 50 spectators.Atmosphere on stands was rather more appr. for theater then some sports event.
Veic, Zovko, Puc were amongst Mektic supporter's.
I had a word with one of the organizers, who is a bit pesimistic about events future or actually local clubs limits.
Veic had nice training session early in the morning and overall seems to be really nice bloke.Today he is expecting much bigger support from his friends and family. He is originally from one of the nearby islands, so to be a student in Rijeka is like a tradition which is followed by a lot of his friends.Hopefully this support will help him to win over Bagnis today at 1800 who is really a difficult player.
So far from local players, Mesaros is in 2nd round, whilst Mektic is out.
Besides Veic, Puc and Marcan are playing today, but with hard draw to advance further.
Probably the best chance here would have Skugor, but is unable to play due to injury.
If there's some chance will try to write some more.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

so here's the story...there are confirmed stories that nine matches on the tournament had been fixed. six from yesterday's programme and three from today's. the word is that huge amounts of money had been bet in romania on those matches including Prodon - Mesaros where the bet had been on prodon. as far as you know Prodon led 5-2 in the third then retired on 5-6* 15-40*
today trujillo soler had to beat gensee what as you know happened (odds 2.70), kellner had to beat zopp but he retired at 2-0. i suppose that he maybe had some threats...
the last match is di mauro-zemlja...if di mauro wins, the romanian bookies will loose around 500.000 euros...

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

I see no one writes about the match fixing that is going on at this tournament.
There should be an investigation going on cause around 8-10 matches from the 1st round are supposed to be fixed by betting mafia.

A lot of French players involved in the betting scam: Millot, Prodon, Devilder ,Patience and Gensse all lost on command, while Brzezicki ,Julio Silva and Dutra Silva also lost here on porpouse.

Big money were placed at local betting shops on combo bets here in Romania, Croatia,Poland,Serbia,Bosnia etc.

It seems like every year there are couple of situations similar to this one.

Millot should be banned for life...same as Koellerer.

Re: Week 22: Rijeka, Croatia [Entry List]

I am on an online betting detox now :tape: until I catch up with my writing jobs deadlines but I entered a local bookie yesterday ( ) to ask for a Djokovic RG outright prize and also noticed there were no Rijeka challenger matches (perhaps good for me or I could have lost on Brzezicki over Guez).

Today Zopp's prize was going up like crazy up to nearly evens and then Kellner retired at 0-2. Either a reverse fix or overplotting ;)

Trujillo d. Gensse 6-3 6-3
Puc d. Dabul 7-6(1) 6-4
Ungur d. Viola 6-4 6-2
Machado d. Marcan 6-2 6-3
