Events run by national associations

Which events currently on the tour are run by national associations? Where the money generated from the event goes back into grass roots tennis for that country. As far as I know the following...

Re: A What If Situation: Djokovic wins Cincinnati and thus has all Masters 1000's.

Even if Djokovic had won Cincinnati, this Golden Masters record doesn't mean a great deal in comparison with the Career Slam. Look how the top players treat most of the master 1000 events. Other...

Re: For those trying to diminish Fraud's achievements by saying he played in a 'weak

I judge the strength of a player's era on how many of his rivals would be on an all time great list. Out of Federer's main rivals of his era, (other than a young Nadal) only Hewitt, Safin, Roddick...

Re: If the Masters 1000 events don't impact on a players career what's the point of t

Not Im not kidding.Indian wells already has 2 weeks on the schedule and could easily be converted to being a major and not affect the tour. If you played Indian wells as major in Late February you...

Re: If the Masters 1000 events don't impact on a players career what's the point of t

I'm not saying the Masters 1000 events are not important tournaments, their part of the tour like ATP 500 and ATP 250 events, etc, but I'm suggesting we should have a few more majors on the calendar...

If the Masters 1000 events don't impact on a players career what's the point of them?

I hear people all the time say that a players Masters 1000 record doesn't mean very much in terms of judging their career and it's all about the majors. Before Andy Murray won the 2012 US open...

Re: Should grass court season be extended?

I want it to happen but it won't. The French and the clay events will never move forward in the calendar and wimbledon cannot move back anymore than it's doing in 2015 as it will clash with the Open...

Re: What is your wish for a revamped tennis season?

If I was head of the ATP I would revamp the Masters 1000 series. Most of the Masters 1000 events feel like warm ups to the majors (by both players and fans) and don't generate half as much attention...

Re: How relevant is WTFs in GOAT discussions?

I think the last decade or so has seen the Year End Finals decrease in importance. The reasons in my opinion include:

1. The season is so long and tennis has become so demanding on players bodies...

Re: Which star players from past eras would do well in this one?

At 5'11 I don't think Borg would have had the power to compete as well in this era. I would say Lendl would do the best in the modern era

Re: Would Hewitt have the same H2H domination as Nadal against Federer without injury

Yes I think he would have won wimbledon and us open in both 2004 and 2005 if it wasn't for Federer. Of course it would have been close against Roddick in 2004 wimbledon and against Agassi in 2004 &...

Re: Would Hewitt have the same H2H domination as Nadal against Federer without injury

Hewitt didn't start to get affected by injuries until after the Australian open in 2005. He injured his toe in 2005 indian Wells then fell down some stairs at his home and broke a rib and ended up...

Re: Will Dubai ever be upgraded to Master 1000 status if so when?

Miami is probably Dubai's best chance of having a Masters 1000 event. If Miami fails to get approval for their expansion plans the tournament is pretty much finished according to the tournament...

Re: Will Dubai ever be upgraded to Master 1000 status if so when?

For Dubai to be a Masters series event it would need to update its facilities to the required level and buy out 1 of the existing Masters events. If you look at the mess the ATP got into when they...

Re: Nadal's domination or Non Mandatory status - Why do people hate Monte Carlo??????

I don't like the fact it's non-mandatory, in formula 1 you wouldn't allow drivers to have the option to skip a race so why do it In tennis. All masters series events should be mandatory. Also the...

Re: Аre you satisfed from tennis broadcasting in your country?

It's frustrating having to pay for sky for the ATP tournaments and BT Sport for the WTA tournaments. I no the WTA isn't in the same league as the ATP, but sometimes it's nice to be able to watch a...

Paris - what's the point of this tournament anymore?

Cincinnati: I mainly dislike this event because of the timing, for me with Wimbledon moving a week and...

Re: Roddick or Hewitt: Who was better/greater?

Roddick had a more consistent career but I would take Hewitt's any day. It's just a shame that Hewitt's post 2005 injuries have prevented him from being a regular in the latter stages of the majors...

Re: Imagine there was a Grass Masters since 2000, WWW?

Hewitt would have won it in 2000, 2001 and 2002. His grass court form at queens in those 3 years was awesome. He beat Sampras twice, Henman twice, ivanisevic twice (once at rosmalen) Rusedski once...

Re: 5th Grand Slam

Good post, you have my vote. I would prefer to see another grand slam rather than 9 masters 1000 events which mean very little to a players career. In fact I would go even further and aswell as...

Re: Why do Indian Wells and miami have bigger draws than other masters 1000's ?

Tournament owner Butch Buchholz made an agreement with the ATP that the Miami Masters had 2 weeks in the calendar every year. This deal was made in 1987 and was extended for 3 decades. This was...

Re: Is Lleyton hewitt and all time great if he is where do he rank???

Of course he is an all time great. Yes since the end of 2005 he has been average at best, but you cannot rewrite the record books. A wimbledon and US Open winner, Australian Runner up, 2 back to...

Re: Who is the better player: Ferrer or Henman?

Close call, On grass their is no question, Henman. But on hard court and clay I would say Ferrer.
