Re: nadal or murray have competed at every gs final since 2009 us open

didn't Federer make every final between '05 W and '10 AO except the '08 AO? (18 out of 19)

so you could say he and Djokovic contested 19 straight GS finals, or even he and Tsonga contested 19...

Re: Hawk-eye rigging probability

as you point out, Hawkeye is a probabilistic model, accurate to within 3mm. if hawkeye shows the ball to be in by 1mm, then it is more likely that the ball was in than the ball being out. we don't...

Re: What happened to Chinese (men) tennis?

The answer you're looking for is the lack of state social welfare which other nations have. That is, if a sportsperson fails in China, he/she has no income at all and will starve. That means only the...

Re: player nicknames in Chinese

the whole cow thing for Federer isn't right, they actually mean bull. nothing to do with Juliette the cow.

in China the bull has connotations of being strong, unbeatable, and arrogant.

Re: Who is the highest ranked player that Serena Williams could defeat?

I think Serena at this level could hang, and have a chance against someone around ATP 50.

Re: How good can Wawrinka really be?

I really like watching Stan play - I think his weaknesses are:

1. afraid to take risks when losing
2. defensive skills are not top 10
3. always play the aesthetic game, and afraid to win ugly

Re: Is it save to say that the Wimbledon champion 2012 will be from the top half ?

considering Tsonga beat Federer last year (and took Djokovic to a tight 4 setter), clearly not!

also Murray has only lost to Nadal and Roddick at Wimbledon since he became a top player. His...

Re: Who has the greatest 2nd serve of all-time?

Though the best second serve I've seen is from Raonic - he's not very consistent though.

Re: Rafa splitting up with Toni?

no one can coach Rafa, except maybe Brad Gilbert.

still, I hope to see Carlos Moya for the job.

Re: Another Federer streak has ended today!

stupid meaningless statistic, just like his consecutive QF streak.

his only meaningful streaks are weeks at number 1 and consecutive slam finals.

Re: Do you think we will ever see "Nadal" vs Nadal?

a friend of mine plays just like Rafa (inc being left handed and high bouncing forehands with 2 handed backhand). he's 14. just playing junior tournaments in Australia still.

Re: How long until hawk-eye takes over?

Interesting idea.

But is having a frizz of hair catching the edge of the line in or out?

Re: Do you think draws are ever rigged?

There is a fairly easy solution to this debate, and I'm surprised noone has offered it yet. So here it is.

Let's adopt the role of a would-be draw-rigger and have a look at slam draws of the...

Re: Miami R1: Nishikori def Chardy 7-6(5) 6-2

strange that both meetings of Nishikori and Nadal have come on grass. How often does this happen in the modern game??

Re: Would Federer be as successful as a left-hander?

I don't think Federer would have been as dominant in the 04-07 periods. He might have won more matches over the course of his career as a left-hander, though.

The reason I think he wouldn't have...

Re: Would Nadal be as successful as a right-hander?

a more curious question would be posed to the recently retired Carlos Moya, who like Nadal is Majorcan, but more relevantly, does not play his forehand with his dominant hand. Moya is left-handed but...

Re: Youngest player to win a challenger

chang's youngest records are ridiculous. can you imagine a 17 year old (and barely 17 at that) winning RG today? lol.

Re: Sampras says Nadal can break "the record"

Nadal also played 5 sets against Haase at W.
He's far less dominant on grass than most think, despite only having lost to Lopez on this surface since W'07. He even lost a set against Nishikori at...

Re: Biggest upset 2000-2010?

Easy. Most of the losers in those matches were Federer / Nadal. Federer was unbeatable in 05, 06, 07, so had the lowest odds ever when those Canas, Volandri matches came around.

No one was dominant...

Re: Paris R3: Soderling def. Wawrinka 7-6(3) 6-3

Wawrinka needs to work on his concentration and fitness. He always starts out great and fades.

see him against Nadal at Rome this year, against Murray in 09 wimbledon, etc etc.
