Re: Winston-Salem F: Anderson def Herbert 6-4 7-5

What the hell is that? Is it some sort of lethal throwing weapon banned in 37 states?

Re: John McEnroe: Rafa should never play the Roland Garros again!

His main claim to fame is being brother to Patrick McEnroe, former captain of US Davis Cup team.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen to retire at the end of 2015 (now official)

Not really, it was his return of serve which was his biggest weakness. Nobody in Finland teaches players to serve, thus Jarkko had no good servers to practice against in his junior years.

His last...

Re: Roland Garros Final: [8] Stanimal Wawrinka def. [1] Nole Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-3,

One interesting thing for me was that the result wasn't even such a big surprise: I saw many people say beforehand that screw Nadal and Murray, Stan is the biggest obstacle for Djokovic's RG crown...

Re: Who do you *want* to win tomorrow?

Hmmm...only 55-45 for Stan? I'd have expected much larger proportion to support him.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread 2015 vol. 13

Strategy. It annoys the opponent and pushes him to errors.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread 2015 vol. 13

Nieminen has had a pretty bad year, it is obvious his best days are behind him.
He has been playing ok so far in this match though.

Re: The dress

No, not really. Those things might matter, yes, but in the end they are peripheral factors. They might 'help' seeing it in different colours but basically whole thing comes down to kind of...

Re: Who pays the Dues of Ethnic Cleansing of Native Australians/Americans by the Euro

Pretty much everything which at that point can be said and done has already been said and done. Water under the bridge. Besides, Europeans are hardly only offenders in this regard.

And some of those...

Re: Ski Jumping thread - Four Hills Tournament (27 Dec - 6 Jan)

What they should do is to redesign the bindings. Modern bindings with their 'high heel' effect upon landing are dangerous.

Re: Ski Jumping thread - Four Hills Tournament (27 Dec - 6 Jan)

Yeah, it looked real bad...he didn't move and was all bloody. Reportedly however he's (mostly) ok sans the external injuries.

Solid competition from Kraft, he opened a door just a bit for Haybock...

Re: Congrats to Wawrinka for winning DC!

Yeah, this was Stan's victory more than Federer's, especially in the light of all the hard work Wawrinka has put to DC in recent years while Federer's participation has been sporadic.

Re: Slowing down the surfaces benefited Federer almost as much as the rest of the big

Slowing down surfaces has two main effects. First, and most obviously, it makes conquering all surfaces much easier as more people can expect to win on multiple surfaces with their same basic game....

Re: Benneteau. The BIG loser in tennis era??

Biggest losers are players who year after year try to make it in the professional Tour, only to never even pass the Futures qualifying and never earning a single ATP ranking point. There are lots of...

Re: Benneteau. The BIG loser in tennis era??

Tursunov does have couple of good wins there, true, but lets face it, most of his titles came against pretty weak opposition: Guccione, Dodig, Dancevic twice...if Julien had regularly got that...

Re: Benneteau. The BIG loser in tennis era??

Going to 10 finals and losing every time is still better than someone like Kunitsyn, who only ever made into one final and by fluke happened to win it.

Besides, most people who come to visit your...

Re: Benneteau. The BIG loser in tennis era??

In fairness to Benneteau, most of his finals have been pretty tough. Only last years final against Sousa he went in as a clear favourite. If he had Tursunov's luck with finals opponents, I bet he...
