Re: WWW ? Wimbledon R3: (2)Roger Federer Vs. Sam Groth

To be fair, it's not Fed's fault that his prospective opponents haven't made the grade. I'd been hoping to see him playing Lopez :(

Federer usually absorbs big serves well, so oughtn't to be...

Re: **************************Wimbledon 2015 Thread******************

Silly me, I completely forgot that. Blame it on the heat :)

Info wanted on Wimbledon queue timings

I'm trying to find some way of tracking the closing times of the queue, and/or information on whether there's any chance of evening entry these days. Can't seem to find anything specific on the...

Re: WWW ? Wimbledon R2: (2)Roger Federer Vs. Sam Querrey

I think some people on this thread are underestimating Sam a bit. He has been playing rather better in recent weeks, I think.

OTOH, to judge by the weather forecast they might be playing under the...

Re: Wimbledon R2: (8) Raonic d. Haas 6-0 6-2 6(5)-7 7-6(4)

Not to mention about 13 years, and recovery from serious injury compared with lesser recovery from injury?

Well, he was just that bad at Queen's - and I had to sit through it all ...

Re: Wimbledon R1: [4] Wawrinka def Sousa 6-4 7-5 7-6(3)

Actually, when they interviewed him straight after the match, he was sniffing an awful lot, so much so that I wondered if he had hay fever, or something.

Changes to Wimbledon practice courts?

I got the impression from something that was said today that the AELTC have made some improvements to the practice courts at Wimbledon. If so, does that include improving access to them? It was...

Re: "Djokovic at centre of CHEAT row as Becker confirms use of special signals"

Well, yes ... and no. "Just reporting"? "Oh look, we've got a chance to undermine Murray's opposition!" And if they were just reporting, how come it's taken this long for them to do it - why did...

Re: Wimbledon R1: [4] Wawrinka def Sousa 6-4 7-5 7-6(3)

The radio commentators said he seemed to be having hamstring trouble, and implied that he was trying not to run much in sets 2 and 3, or something like that. Does that fit with what you saw?

Re: Getting into Wimbledon grounds just prior to the Championships?

That's what I thought. Oh well, maybe I'll try watching the Queen's qualifying next year, then. Thanks.

Re: Wimbledon courts with tv camera?

Know what you mean. Although I don't think you'll get 15. Think I saw something about 6 Red Button channels, which sounds extreme to me?

I remember the days when it was only CC, 1 and 2, maybe...

Re: UPDATE - Ferrer WITHDRAWS from Wimbledon; spot taken by LL Luka Vanni

That really sucks. Couldn't he just have announced it that bit earlier? It's not good to have a hole in the seeding when a tournament starts, particularly if it's a Slam. Would have been fairer if...

Re: WWW Wimbledon R1: (1) Djokovic - Kohlschreiber?

I feel very sorry for Kohli, having got Fed in the first round at Halle and now Djokovic at Wimbledon (and now Ferrer apparently out too late for the seedings to be adjusted?). I doubt he's going to...

Re: **************************Wimbledon 2015 Thread******************

Surely he'll get Centre? World No. 2 and last year's runner-up? First match on, would be my guess - especially since they'll want to put Andy on in the evening for the TV.

Hoping for a good result...

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Wada could test using hair

A lot of them probably are. I'm sure I could manage to sleep through my doorbell if I were really tired. And then there's the "I turned up at my usual training ground, found it was unavailable...

Getting into Wimbledon grounds just prior to the Championships?

Seems to me there have been a lot of people posting photos and behind-the-scenes reports from Wimbledon this year: I always got the impression that the AELTC was pretty much off-limits to the general...

Re: "Djokovic at centre of CHEAT row as Becker confirms use of special signals"

Let me see: British press trying to undermine Murray's main competition? Shades of 2013?

Re: Heatwave expected for Wimbledon

Even that's going to be uncomfortably hot. It's the poor blighters in the queue I feel sorry for: maybe 5 hours with no shade is pretty horrible - and pity the St. John's Ambulance people having to...

Re: Kyrgios: ''I don't really like tennis, I'd rather play basketball''

Over the years, watching tennis players, dancers and people in various other "jobs" where you need to put in a lot of really tedious preparation/grinding to get really good, and seeing how few of...

Re: No ATP presence at Eastbourne this year

Aha, right, thanks. I hadn't registered that the ATP tournament was new - I'd just noted that there was one there, but not what it was.

Re: 35 facts that prove Federer is the GOAT

There is no GOAT. There is no GOAT. There is no GOAT ...

But if there were, your list is a pretty good reason for Fed to be the no. 1 candidate :)

No ATP presence at Eastbourne this year

So, last year when Eastbourne was a combined ATP/WTA event I got the impression that they were planning to keep it that way, which would have been fine by me, yet this year it's back to WTA only. Is...

Re: Murray's BBC column: regrets only caring about the Grand Slams in the past

You'd be surprised. A friend who lives in a town in northern Scotland reported an atmosphere of distinct apathy when he won Wimbledon. I reckon he's probably too Southern for them.
