Re: Buenos Aires R2: Lajovic def.Isner 7-6(12-10), 4-6,7-6(9-7)

Memphis R1: Harrison def. Tiafoe 6-7(0) 7-6(8) 6-4

Absolutely horrible choke by Tiafoe. I like him, but he really seems to have stagnated badly. Really starting to doubt he's going anywhere. His volleying skills are absolutely shocking (and yet he...

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 4

And another one! Jesus Christ. If Tiafoe makes the top 10, he'll be in contention with Almagro for all time worst volleyer.

This just happened. We may be seeing one of the all-time great meltdowns of a public figure.

Re: Memphis R1: Kukushkin def Vanni 6-4 7-6(4)

Vanni one week away from having his ranking totally collapse (unless he pulls an Estrella)

Re: 10 Shades of angry Federer

Like 7 of these were pretty well justified. Though of course, it's ridiculous to have to justify racquet smashing anyway, what needs to be justified is that it's penalized at all.

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 3

Take away Nishikori and it's a challenger. #2 seed is 30, #3 seed is 48 in the world. #6 is 77.

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 3

Re: Why is Nishikori so invincible in Memphis?

He's played like 2 top 30 players in 3 years, so may have something to do with that.

Re: Today's game is much faster and more powerful?

It's not like the top players of today didn't play Nalbandian and Roddick. Prime Roddick was Djokovic's nightmare, if you'll remember, and Nalbandian could always beat anyone.

Re: In absence of Federer at Rotterdam, here is his 1999 QF against Kafelnikov

Fun to watch. Looks like a good match from the video.

Kafelnikov's forehand has to have the best efficacy to aesthetic pleasingness ratio in the world.

Edit: Upon thinking about this post,...

Re: Why do we not see more top black pros in mens tennis?

I would say that the US's relative success in producing successful black players may be in part due to the number of free courts in the country. As people mentioned previously, in many places it can...

Re: Quito [F]: Estrella Burgos def. Bellucci 4-6 7-6(5) 6-2

I have no idea how he won that second set

Amazing, and out of absolutely nowhere after months of bad form. He just comes to life in Quito.
