Re: Can Murray win Wimbledon

I stick with Murray winning Wimbledon this year. Only a horrible draw leaving him half dead in the final might change that; considering his nationality, he probably won't get screwed by the draw. ;)

Re: Peak Roddick vs Peak Djokovic at Wimbledon

Meanwhile Roddick still has 0 Wimbledon titles.

The sheer delusion of Federer fans never ceases to entertain. A bunch of clownish threads comparing Novak to the mugs that Federer was beating with...

Re: Peak Roddick vs Peak Djokovic at Wimbledon

Roddick was 24 years old at Wimbledon 2007, so in his peak physical form playing his best tennis he lost to an average Gasquet who was ranked 18.
That alone shows how limited his game was on grass.

Re: Is grass the most advantageous surface to certain playing styles...

Grass is great for servebots and ball-bashers. Clay is the most demanding surface to be proficient on and has added depth of timing and movement due to sliding.
Plexicushion of AO is the most neutral...

Re: Peak Roddick vs Peak Djokovic at Wimbledon

Peak Novak owns any version of Roddick on any surface.

Even Gasquet won a 5 setter against peak Roddick at Wimbledon 2007 after being down 2 sets.

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

Really? Getting bageled by Novak qualifies as a meh day to me and Wawa got 45% first serve points won at WTF 2014 and 64% at AO 2015. That's considerably less than 80%.

To me it's clear...

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

That's the part you don't seem to get: if his offense was so good, he wouldn't need to play good defense. Dictating play means your opponent is doing the running and retrieving, not you. The way you...

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

That makes zero sense. You can't say someone has good offense and then say they lose because they rely on what makes them good, which is offense.
Besides, good movement is part of good offense since...

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

Wawrinka isn't playing the top 4 and yet loses in earlier rounds of slams and masters. Going by your logic, despite having a better offensive game on average, Wawrinka loses to lower ranked players....

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

When Stan is playing well he can still lose as shown at AO 2013, USO 2013 when he played at much higher level than AO 2015.

Against Wawrinka:

Novak 19-4
Nadal 12-2
Federer 16-3
Murray 8-6

In all...

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

I don't think he is mainly because he has to paint the lines or hit hard most of the time to be effective. The top 4 players have controlled aggression and don't need to hit the ball as hard for...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

Indeed, one teenager being his only tough competition made life much easier for Federer.

Amusing that you mention going with the results, when it's exactly those results that show Federer...

Re: Stuttgart F: [1]R.Nadal def. [8]V.Troicki 7-6(3) 6-3

Nadal to troll the tour by losing RG and winning the next 4 slams.

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

You should google "tennis records of the open era" and look at the stats, they are quite telling. Most people just look at slam count and ignore the rest because it makes their favorite look a lot...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

You can't possibly be that deluded. You're telling me that on average, a player ranked #121 is a bigger threat than a player ranked #3?
Instead of playing Ferrer #5, Murray #3, Nadal #2 at AO 2012 in...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

You're wrong, he wins 8 slams tops by the end, not more. ;)

Coric, Raonic, Kokk, Dimitrov, Thiem and Kyrgios will be sharing slams until Novak, Rafa, Murray and Federer retire.

First of all,...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

It is not due to masters, because Nadal has played more masters and slams than Novak. It is due to Nadal having easier draws.
Novak has 143 top 10 wins, Nadal has 131. Nadal turned pro in 2001, Novak...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

The real joke is that 10-23 includes only 2 slam wins for Federer and only at Wimbledon. Isn't he the goat? He can't figure out how to beat a clay court specialist but loses to him at 3 different...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

You keep mentioning who Nadal beat in finals but you don't talk about his road to the final. Novak already has more top 10 wins than Nadal despite Nadal being on tour much longer. Take a closer look...

Re: What's Nadal biggest problem these days?

Movement is lacking and the forehand needs pace and depth. He will return to the top 5 soon if he plays a bit better.

Re: Which win vs Rafa at Roland Garros was more impressive?Soderling 2009 vs Novak 20

Novak beat Nadal more convincingly. No version of Soderling can win a set 6-1 against Nadal on Chatrier. Soderling got routined in all his other clay matches against Nadal, while Novak has...

Re: Novak Djokovic - 3 slams in 3 years, is he really that good?

Novak is one of the best and most consistent players in tennis history across all surfaces.

He hasn't benefited from the pathetic draws and competition Federer and Nadal have enjoyed most of their...

Re: I see Nadal winning Wimbledon or the U.S Open.

Ball-bashing is rewarded on grass, but Nadal will probably play 1000% in the final so he would likely win.

Re: Nadal: 'Matches against Raonic, Fognini or Stan I lost, I should normally win'

Rafa shouldn't be losing to mugs he's been owning most of his career especially since he's still in his twenties. To be fair, all the top 4 players lost to mugs this year.

Re: I see Nadal winning Wimbledon or the U.S Open.

It all depends on his draws. He makes the final and only in form Novak or Murray can take him out: everyone else would have no chance.
