Re: Who played the hardest competition: Federer, Nadal, or Djokovic

At the time when they won their slams, Nadal.

Djokovic was around too at that time of course - together with the rest of the field - but he couldn't win.

Re: Best player ever to never win a Grand Slam title?

On Rios "unlucky" at the 1998 Australian Open, in my view pretty much the opposite is true. Yes, they caught his final opponent with steroids 5 months later (although Korda always professed his...

McEnroe vs. Lewis 1983.

No comparison, really.

Re: Andy Murray, the 17th Yokozuna of the Open Era

They are Dai-Yokozuna, while Murray is "only" a regular Yokozuna. Dai (= great) is a title for an especially accomplished Yokozuna.

There are 7 open era Dai-Yokozuna (Laver, Rosewall, Borg,...

Re: Andy Murray on a Yokozuna run (yokozuna-tennis updates 2016)

Frankly this annoys me too. This is not off-topic, it relates to Wimbledon tournament that has started and to active players' career, and provides another angle to look at the latter than ATP stats...

Re: Andy Murray on a Yokozuna run (yokozuna-tennis updates 2016)

The rank lists are updated after every grand slam (also after RG 2016), as are lists of current sanyaku rank holders...

Re: Is Djokovic greater than Nadal?

"Dominance" was clearly explained in my first post on the issue. Whoever doesn't understand, just go back one page and read.

Fact is: meeting Nadal in the later stages of a slam has typically been...

Both. But the first is called dominance, the second consistency.

Re: Is Djokovic greater than Nadal?

When Nadal is in tip top condition, he typically wins the slam. Djokovic typically doesn't.

Sure, if reaching semifinals is your criterion for dominance - and not winning - Djokovic is the man....

Re: Is Djokovic greater than Nadal?

They are both Dai-Yokozuna now, and this is a level where comparisons start becoming pointless, as one is comparing unique careers. But if push comes to shove of course Nadal still ranks a tad...

Re: When will Djokovic surpass Nadal in slams?

There is one area where Djokovic will never surpass Nadal: dominance.

Djokovic entered 28 grand slam semifinals and won 10 of them, a conversion rate of 36 percent. Nadal went on to win 14 times...

Re: Is Djokovic greater than Lendl?

There are some parallels - both had to wait a long time after they were the world's best player, Lendl until Borg retired and McEnroe deteriorated, Djokovic until Federer became too old and Nadal...

I'm not explaining to someone in 10 years. I am explaining what has happened in the past 5 years, why people came up with the term "big 4", and why the term makes good sense.

Maybe our...

Re: There is no big four confirmed again

One can argue whether there still is a big 4. Probably not, not only b/a of Murray but also Nadal.

One cannot argue that there has never been one. If you were not called Federer, Nadal, Djokovic,...
