Re: Doctor Who

I disagree. Or rather, I don't get the impression that the underlying narrative is there.

They are standalone stories, let's be honest here. I could miss half the season, and as long as I watched...

Re: Doctor Who

I've never quite got into Doctor Who. I watched the most recent season, and it was pretty average, it has to be said.

It will obviously never happen, but Doctor Who really needs to try harder to...

Re: BSG 19 ~~~GROOVY SONGS ~~ VOTING DEADLINE: 28th May, 5.30 pm CET

We need an independent adjudicator with the power to disqualify the songs that aren't groovy. ;)

Re: Nice Final: Thiem def. [4] Mayer 6-7(8) 7-5 7-6(2), wins 1st title

Thiem's backhand is really ugly. That horizontal follow-through is really not nice to watch.

Disappointing result. Thiem will be picking up these kind of tournaments - which the world-class players...

Re: WWW Roland Garros R1: [10] Dimitrov vs Sock

This one should go to five sets. Think Dimitrov will edge it, just because of his superior fitness.

Re: BSG 19 ~~~GROOVY SONGS ~~ VOTING DEADLINE: 28th May, 5.30 CET

A couple of initial (pre-listen) thoughts about the songs.

a) Apart from a small handful (along with my own selection, of course), I don't know any of these songs. Perhaps I'll recognise one or two...

Re: Roland Garros QR2

James Ward is really not good enough for his ranking. Not even close to being so, in fact. I'm glad Lindell took him out.

Re: Wild Cards

TA don't have an agreement with Wimbledon.

Hewitt will get one, anyway. Edmund, Broady and Ward will do, too. After that, I think they will go to anybody that shows form on the grass.

Re: The best player on each surface currently?

A better question would be who is the second best player on each surface. ;)

These aren't necessarily based on results, just what I sort of feel. For example Murray clearly had the second best...

Re: BSG 19 ~~~GROOVY SONGS ~~ Nominate until 21st May 4 pm CET

Can't believe I only just discovered this game. Time to get involved.

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

It's not a stupid system. It's becoming more faulty with the rise of minor parties, but how would a stable government be formed if we used PR? I don't want to live my entire life enduring coalition...

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

Two reasons.

The 'better together' voters probably split between Labour and Lib Dems (and to a much lesser extent, the Tories). All the people who voted for Scotland to become independent had one...

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

A very satisfying night, all things considered. Something was going to go wrong, as far as my personal preferences were concerned. I'm glad it was the nationalists in Scotland winning that many...

Re: WWW Istanbul Final (1) Federer vs. (3) Cuevas

You have to stake a bit of money on Cuevas at 5.5, I reckon. He's the underdog, but surely not to that extent? 60/40 Federer in my mind.

Re: Istanbul SF: [3] Cuevas routines [2] Dimitrov 6-2 6-4

Nothing to see here. Dimitrov got comprehensively outclassed by a superior clay-courter. The final tomorrow is a much more interesting prospect.

Re: Bucharest F: [5] GGL def. [7] Vesely 7-6(5) 7-6(11)

Vesely does absolutely nothing with the ball. For a guy who is that tall, hitting deep down the middle will not work against great players who can expose his awful movement. If he wants to be a great...

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

I really hope Farage doesn't win Thanet South. He'd be forced to resign as leader of UKIP, and that would be akin to the British people chopping off the head of the UKIP monster. I don't think they...

Re: Houston QR1: Sweeting def. Sandgren 6-3, 6-3

Sandgren is actually a pretty fine player, so this is very encouraging for Sweeting. Long way to go, but there does appear to be some kind of a light at the end of the tunnel*.

*That is if you think...

Re: Future and Challenger threads in General Messages

It's called 'general messages', not 'ATP-tour only messages'. You're plucking a rule out of thin air that doesn't even exist.

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

It most certainly is about trust.

It's about finding the party that shares your ideals, and gauging whether they will deliver or not on those promises.

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

I just did the test, and got:

33% Tory
33% Lib Dem
16% UKIP
16% Green

It's pretty much spot on, but it was a flawed exercise in one regard, as I knew exactly which party had which policy.

I'm...
