Re: Where would Milos Raonic be ranked with an average serve?

^ Yes, most current players would be afraid to hit with a wood racquet against someone who knows how to handle a wood racquet. Because most would embarrass themselves by using wood racquets.

^...

Re: Where would Milos Raonic be ranked with an average serve?

^ Because they are two of the current players with some variety and creativity in their game - two elements which have been sadly absent since 'technology' (and BS marketing) hijacked racquets.

^...

Re: Where would Milos Raonic be ranked with an average serve?

^ Playing with wood racquets would separate the men from the boys, so to speak. It would reveal the players who have more natural tennis ability, and the players who are more reliant on the spin and...

Re: Where would Milos Raonic be ranked with an average serve?

Yes, he moved better than Raonic - but then, so does 98% of the planet. Roddick was smaller, of course.

Roddick's game never impressed me. Very mechanical and unnatural.
In the era of the wood...

Where would Raonic be ranked with an average serve?

The same could have been asked about Roddick.

Re: Andy Murray to get Roger Federer-style personal logo

^ This 'personal logo' thing is just Murray's way of pointing out that his ego is just as out of control as Federer's, Nadal's, and Djokovic's.

^ Your avatar - based on Nadal's logo - reminds me of...

Re: Should there be more of a variety in the court colours on tour?

Prior to the current blue, many hardcourts were a dark purple. This was the beginning of the unfortunate experimental stage with court coulours.

Keep in mind that dark colours for the court (and/or...

Re: Should there be more of a variety in the court colours on tour?

Oh... I thought by 'walls', you meant the ground surface that borders the court.
So I thought you meant that it's 'essential' that the ground surface that borders the actual court contrast with the...

Re: Should there be more of a variety in the court colours on tour?

^ The U.S. Open at Flushing was all the same colour green until about 10 years ago when they changed it to the current colours.

^ "Essential" for who? A 95 year old person watching on a 7 inch...

Re: Should there be more of a variety in the court colours on tour?

The courts were a uniform green - both inside and outside the lines - at the U.S. Open for many years. It was beautiful. Classic.

Of course, at Wimbledon and Roland Garros, it is also just one...

Re: Why Gen Y yuppies are unhappy

^ Absolutely.
Those who focus on money and material things and 'social status' will always be insecure and unhappy on the most meaningful level.

Re: Who are the most tight fisted athletes of all time with money?

^ Where did you get this information from? Agassi's book?
Agassi's a phony and a classless punk - nowhere near the respectful gentleman that some misguided people think he is.
What Agassi did a few...

Re: Who is the tennis player who appears drawn on the the top site of MTF?

Now we simply need to know... WHY?

This thread could have been a dud... but it turned out quite nice. Lots of funny stuff...

Re: Funniest/ Most disrespectful player quotes

^ Connors had more 'pot calling the kettle black' moments like this in his career than any other athlete.

Those days were certainly an interesting and enjoyable time in tennis, though.

Re: Funniest/ Most disrespectful player quotes

About 30 years ago, Vitas Gerulaitis, after beating Jimmy Connors for the first time in the past 17 meetings between the two, said, with a straight face: "NOBODY beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a...

Re: Line judges at Davis Cup

As nice as it would be to have line judges from neutral countries, what no-one has brought up is the fact that it's not very feasible to do.
Line-judges are just every day people with some sort of...

Re: Is Zimonjic a villain on the ATP circuit?

Re: Pat Cash : Are Rafael Nadal Nadal and Novak Djokovic boring?

That passing shots are much easier to hit today is a credit to the current racquets, as compared to the racquets of yesteryear.
It has far, far more to do with the change in racquets and strings...

Re: Pat Cash : Are Rafael Nadal Nadal and Novak Djokovic boring?

While I prefer to watch two serve & volleyers play each other to watching two baseliners, it's still rather boring to watch two serve & volleyers play each other, because the points are always short...

Well, I haven't been here long enough to see how often / how easily they ban people... but I do see a ton of very immature nonsense and very juvenile language on this forum - and it's all tolerated....
