Re: AO R4: Nishikori def. Ferrer 6-3 6-3 6-3

Not to be rude like elliot404 but I dont think that Ferrer was injured as much as you make it out to be.

Re: Nishikori good enough to become No. 1

As a Nishikori "fan", I'd say no. He could stay in or around the top 5 for a few years though. With hopefully a slam win.

Re: Fognini receives HUGE fine for outbursts in his Shanghai match

What do you want to do? Put him in prison for being a jerk? Maybe the fine is a bit low but I don't get the mob mentality on the net against assholes.

Re: Shanghai R1: (#553) Wang def. (#17) Fognini 7-6(5) 6-4

@10.43 is pretty suspicious. Normally there should be less than 1% chance of #553 winning against a top 20 opponent.

Re: 2014 Live Commentary Thread Vol. 25

Re: Will Berdych and Tsonga be absolutely kicking themselves for never winning a slam

Cilic played the best two matches I've seen in a long time. And that include all big four matches of the last two years.

Re: 2014 Live Commentary Thread Vol. 24

I agree that a Nishikori at his best would struggle to beat this Cilic. Impressive stuff from the Croat.

Re: WWW USO QF: [3] Wawrinka v [10] Nishikori

More than enough time to rest for Nishikori.
Unlike Madrid when he played against Ferrer during the night then Nadal the next day.
And I'm not sure Wawrinka is solid enough to beat fit Kei.
Kei in 4.

Re: WWW USO R4: Nishikori vs Raonic

It's a very important match for Nishikori. He needs to deliver on slams after playing that well this year. He's almost 25 and has been in QF just once.

Re: USO R3: Nishikori def. Mayer 6-4. 6-2, 6-3

Emilie Loit, former French pro was talking about injuries yesterday (during Thiem-Gublis) and went on to say how much a shame it is that Nishikori was injured given his talent. The other commentator...

Re: Did Milos Raonic surpass Andy Murray in the rankings?

http://live-tennis.eu/
Murray will be ranked number 10 if Cilic doesn't win it all. Raonic might be ranked anywhere between 5-8.

Re: Federer: Shot clocks might soon be introduced to speed up play.

Federer is right for once.
It's crazy how the two players he hint at changed the way the sport is played for the worse. What's worse is that Nadal never questions anything he does or say.

Re: Wimbledon R2: Nishikori def. Kudla 6-3, 6-2, 6-1

Nishikori won't be too tired after that. Hopefully, he'll go deep in this one.

Re: Average age of Top 10 players

What happened is an exceptionnal 1985-1987 generation that made an impact early and is still nowhere near retirement. And the 1989-1991 generation is slightly weaker than usual so that doesn't help.

Re: Frank Dancevic extremely disappointed with the player services (Wimbledon Qualify

You have to draw the line somewhere. If you improve conditions, prize money at the lowest levels then you'll have even more pro players trying to break through. Then you'll need to improve...

Could the Barcelona/Madrid Nishikori have pushed Nadal at the FO?

If he encoutered him assuming Nishikori was fit and Nadal in his current form?
Or would he have been steamrolled like the rest of the pack (minus Djoko). What about against Djokovic?

Nishikori...

Re: WWW Basel SF: Djokovic vs Nishikori?

6-3 6-0 against Murray in Shanghai didn't seem to affect him much.

Re: Shanghai R3: Nishikori def. Giraldo 7-6(6) 4-6 6-3

Nishikori didn't seem to enjoy tennis this year. I surely think this will be a relief!

Re: RG R2: Stakhovsky def. Nishikori 6-1 3-6 6-3 7-6 (3)

Nishikori seems to go backward technically. His groundstrokes are just average now and he seems to have lost a bit of fire/creativity. He should get rid of Gilbert/Bollettieri.

Re: Miami R2: Nadal def Nishikori 6-4 6-4

Kei played a really amateur match at time with top 10 weapons. weird.

Once he figures things out, he'll be near the top.

Re: Miami R1: Nishikori def Chardy 7-6(5) 6-2

Great win for Kei.
He plays Nadal next. Even if an upset is unlikely, he needs to play this kind of matches.
