Re: What Final would be the best for tennis and T.V. at Wimbledon?

Most these options have their charms. Of course a replay of the 2008 Wimbledon Final would be great, especially if this time Federer has the better end for himself. But world #1 Andy Murray winning...

Re: Brad Gilbert:"La Decima more impressive than Roger slam record:18"

If Federer wins Wimbledon, they will claim this is the most impressive thing ever.
If Nadal wins it, it will be more impressive than his 10th RG title.
If Djokovic wins it, it will be the most...

Re: Y-T updates 2017: Rafael Nadal stops Stan Wawrinka's Yokozuna run

You're correct, mate - good thinking. In Ozumo, the Sekiwake ranks would be filled simply with the two most deserving wrestlers below Ozeki, provided they had a positive record in the last...

Re: Nadal heavy favorite for Wimbledon, USOpen and the YE#1

I don't think so. Nadal hasn't put much work into his grass court preparation in recent years. Like Federer, he has become more selective. It has to do with age, wise men pick their battles.

The...

Re: Y-T updates 2017: Rafael Nadal stops Stan Wawrinka's Yokozuna run

It didn't happen end: Nadal blasted Wawrinka of the court - as he had done with everyone else during the tournament - and ended Wawrinka's Yokozuna run. There is no result now at Wimbledon 2017 that...

Re: Y-T updates 2017: Stan Wawrinka one win away from Yokozuna promotion

Stan Wawrinka is one win away from a Yokozuna promotion - but for this he needs to beat the great Rafael Nadal in the 2017 French Open final.

Who could argue that this is deserved if Stan manages...

Re: 2017 AO courts play faster than Wimbledon

Faster but higher ball bounce.

Re: 5 wins at 3 different slams vs Holding all 4 slams vs 9 Wins at a single slam?

9 chickens in one color vs. 4 chickens in different colors at the same time vs. chickens in three different colors but 5 of them each.

I am for the latter. Who cares about the color once they are...

Re: What if Federer ends up with losing h2h against all Big 4 members?

How and why exactly this should be consequential for anything?

Re: This list settles the debate - which was already settled.

Among players whose entire careers were in the open era, Federer arguably has a slight edge, even over legends like Borg, Sampras, Nadal, Djokovic. .

It gets trickier when one goes back further....

Re: Who Is Greater - Nadal or Djokovic?

It's telling how a few weeks shape many folks' minds. Mid-summer last year there was a similar debate, and the majority favored Djokovic. Now Nadal had one good tournament and its seems split...

Re: Does RAFA need to improve serve from here on?

I don't think this is in the cards. Physically Nadal isn't younger than Federer, has struggled far more with injuries in recent years.

In terms of GS count, one needs to factor in circumstance....

Single-handed backhand at the AU Open

There were 3 single-handers in the semifinals - beautiful. I wonder when this happened last.

Btw, does a fast court favor single-handers? Or is more a low bounce? In this first case, this would...

Re: Does RAFA need to improve serve from here on?

Djokovic has a good serve, but what makes his game special is the return to serve, not the serve.

Re: Does RAFA need to improve serve from here on?

The nice ting is that he doesn't need to do anything any more. He has done everything already.

As for being able to beat Federer, see you at Roland Garros.

Re: Who Is Greater - Nadal or Djokovic?

It's easy: even.

Both have won everything there is to win. Nadal has done things Djokovic couldn't do, Djokovic has done things Nadal couldn't do. Comparison beyond this point - at least in terms...

Further, I agree with the poster who argued...

Re: Best player never ranked higher than #3 (open era)

So who is if then?

If you haven't noticed, the comparison is not Federer, but other career-best ##3 or 4.

Re: Best player never ranked higher than #3 (open era)

Stan Smith was consensus world #1 in 1972. Maybe things have changed, but last time I checked #1 was considered better than #3.

Re: Best player never ranked higher than #3 (open era)

If a case can be made for someone else but Wawrinka it is Jan Kodes, who also won three slams - and this although he never played the Australian Open (most top players in the 70s skipped down under)...

Re: Who do you rate higher, Djokovic or Sampras?

Another comparison between Dai-Yokozuna. About even. Djokovic will likely be slightly ahead at the end of his career.
