Re: Andy Murray-the first Brit to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Djokovic 6-4 7-5

Djokovic went to the net more often than Murray and it was a mistake because he's not really that type of player and was against a great passer.

His big mistake was making too many unforced errors....

Re: Only Federer could

He was much better in that year than the year before. He actually managed to reach a GS final and was definitely improving towards the end of the year. Nadal definitely wasn't as good in 2011 either....

Re: Only Federer could

The field now is very similar to back then to be honest. Back then, you had the likes of Roddick, Hewitt, Ferrer and others all emerging and disappearing from time to time. In recent years we've had...

Re: Andy Murray-the first Brit to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Djokovic 6-4 7-5

While it wasn't the most exciting, it was hardly dreadful. Both men are baseliners so aren't going to produce serve and volley tennis, but that's hardly their own fault. They play in a style that...

Re: Where would you rank Murray compared to other 2-slam players?

I don't agree that he needs world no 1 to pass the others. As has been said before, the likes of Safin and Hewitt didn't play in an era that was as competitive as this. Murray would've easily managed...

Re: Healthy Nadal dominates any post-Peakerer season

If healthy, then maybe, apart from in 2011 due to how dominant Djokovic was. The problem with Nadal is though that his injuries largely stem from the way he plays, and this is coming from someone who...

Re: Only Federer could

Nonsense. Djokovic was playing much better in 2010 than he had in 2009 and while he wasn't as good as he was in 2011, he was undoubtedly a lot better. Federer and Murray weren't brilliant either, but...

Re: Andy Murray-the first Brit to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Djokovic 6-4 7-5

Djokovic approaching the net more times doesn't mean he was the more aggressive player. I'd say they were fairly similar in that regard. Murray was definitely more aggressive in the first set and had...

Re: Only Federer could

There's an argument that Nadal might have been able to produce great years more often had it not been for his injury problems, for example in 2009, but they are largely a result of his playing style....

Re: Most enjoyable match of Wimbledon 2013?

Djokovic vs Del Potro for me. It was a superb tennis match with both men playing at the very top of their game. The game was made even better by Del Potro's resilience and the fact that he simply...

Re: Nadal and Federer doesnt lose to Murray in Slam Finals

Nadal hasn't played Murray in a GS final and Federer's first two GS's against Murray were years before he was anywhere near his best. Anyway, it's a poor method of judging considering Djokovic has a...

Re: Murray's wins helps Nadal's legacy and hurts Federer's

Yeah of course, a grass mug with 2 Wimbledon titles who beat the greatest player of all-time in a Wimbledon final in one of tennis' greatest ever matches. Djokovic was on fire in 2011 and having the...

Re: Andy Murray-the first Brit to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Djokovic 6-4 7-5

In both cases though, despite the opposition being poor Murray still played very well and had a resilience to his game he used to lack when he was known for being a bottler. All he can do is beat the...

Re: Reasons Djokovic - 2011 couldnt sustain himself after that year?

I think in 2011 he was playing at an incredible level. He seemed to have this belief he could not be beaten and was almost playing beyond himself. I think he's found his level now; where he's much...

Re: Henman Hill to be renamed Mount Murray

Hardly. In 20 years it'll be remembered as the place where many watched Murray win Wimbledon; not as the place where they watched Henman's semi-final defeats.

Re: Henman Hill to be renamed Mount Murray

It deserves it's name. I don't mind Henman, but the fact is that Murray is now a much more successful player than he ever was and in 30 years when both are of past eras, a lot more people will know...

Re: 2013 Live Commentary

He was already a part of it when he won the US Open last year. This just further legitimised his position in that group.

Re: Murray's wins helps Nadal's legacy and hurts Federer's

Surely it would help Federer as well though in that despite having a losing record overall to Murray, his record in GS finals against him is 3-0?

Re: Why are people acting as if a shit Djokovic suddenly appeared today?

He's hardly shit on grass. It's not his strongest surface and people have overestimated him on it but he's still a strong grass court player. You don't beat Nadal in a Wimbledon final when he's fully...

Re: Will Murray surpass Federer to be the Greatest of All Time?

Even as an avid Murray fan, this thread is a tad ridiculous.

Re: Where does Djokovic goes from here?

He just needs to focus on the US Open now. If he wins that he'll finish the year with 2 slams and, probably, the world no 1 spot. Would hardly be a bad year.

Re: Is Djokovic the most undeserving wimbledon winner ever?

This is a really over the top reaction. Anyone who thinks Djokovic is 'poor' on grass should go back and watch his 2011 final or his match on Friday. He had a poor game today and was up against a...

Re: Murray is better than Djokovic on grass is obvious now, right?

I'd say he's better on grass than Djokovic now on grass for definite. Djokovic is better on clay, and narrowly better on hard courts. They're very even in general at the moment.

Re: Will Djokovic’s legacy be tainted by his two Slam finals losses vs. Murray?

Not at all. He's lost to a player who's going to go down as a great tennis player himself at this rate, and he's hardly been decimated in his H2H record vs Murray either in slam finals.

Re: Rate the 2013 Wimbledon Championships

I'd say an 8. The shocks were great and definitely added a little unpredictablity to the tournament. That then meant that some of the later matches were poor, but Djokovic-Del Potro was great and the...
