Re: Gear Advice

Also, what strings are you using? Good "fresh" strings are more important than the racket. Remember, they are the part that actually touch the ball.

Re: Gear Advice

An 18x20 racket like the blade has more control than a 16x19. If you can't handle the blade then I wouldn't bother with the Prostaff 97. Instead, you may want to buy some lead tape and add a few...

Re: What racket should I choose? Help!

You most likely be able to handle the Autograph. If you want a racket with more spin switch to a 16x19 racket. If you can find the Technifibre 315 LTD it would probably be your best option. You can...

Re: What strings should I use?

Save $250 and buy yourself a stringer. Get yourself 2 sets of syn gut, 2 sets of multis, and 2 sets of poly. Try all 6 sets out and you should learn what works best for you.

Re: Developing a real serve at 18

Step 1: Get a hopper full of balls
Step 2: Go to Home Depot and get some duct tape
Step 3: Drive to tennis courts
Step 4: Duct tape your hand to the racket while using a continental grip
Step 5:...

Re: which tennis balls?

Any pressurized balls will quickly become useless within a week of play. Unless you have thousands to spend on balls, I'd recommend using pressureless ones. I use Tretorn Micron X. Although they...

Re: Defeating a left handed defensive player

Slice down the line again. If they drop the ball short close net and end the point.

Re: Defeating a left handed defensive player

You do the same thing a lefty does to beat a right handed player. Hit your forehand cross-court to his backhand. Slice your backhand down the line to make him hit his backhand to your forehand. Rinse...

Re: How should I play this match?

If he is as out of shape as you claim him to be, you should have no problem beating this guy with the right strategy. You should focus on winning the war (the match) rather than battles (individual...

Re: Help choosing strings please

Steam 99S has an extremely open string pattern. Multis/natty gut will break way too quickly. Polys don't break very quickly, but they lose play ability after a short period of time. The best bang for...

You clearly DKSAT. The best boxer in the world is Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is also the best defensive fighter in the world. Great goal tending trumped high powered offense in the Olympic hockey. Did...

Re: Help with choosing new racket

Hybrid stringing is simply using 1 set of strings in the mains and a different set of string in the crosses. I personally don't hybrid, but it is a really good option that can blend the best of both...

Re: Help with choosing new racket

I am glad you found a racket that you like. Just like choosing the right racket, choosing the right string is just as important. There are 5 generic types of string: synthetic gut, natural gut,...

Re: Help with choosing new racket

Yes, most people need rackets that are above 9 oz to be successful. A heavier racket will generate more power, more control, and more stability if all other things are equal if the user is able to...

Re: Developing deffansive style of play

It all depends on you circumstances. If you are going to be playing a defensive style you have to really develop your endurance and explosiveness. Forget about running long distances. Tennis is...

Re: Putting the ball away

If they really are barely getting the ball back, then be a man and close net. Seriously, learn to volley and the point is over. People always over complicate the game by assuming it's only viable to...

Re: Can someone tell me about the Babolat E-Sense?

It all depends on what you can afford. I'd order through TW/MidwestSports/HolabridSports if you can get any of them in Canada. What is your price range?

Re: Developing your game

TBH wouldn't bother spending the money to get coached up on serving. Spend the money on getting a hopper and a few cans of balls. I unfortunately haven't had the chance to get any coaching, but I've...

Re: Best racquet right now?

I never really understood why Head had a need for the Speed line. I think the Radical and Prestige ranges are broad enough to cover 90% of the needs of most players. The Instinct and Extreme ranges...

Re: Best racquet right now?

I'm going to have to say the Youtek IG Prestige Pro. It's got a ton of control and the high static weight coupled with the head light balance make it a serving monster. It also has just enough power...
