Re: What rank is required for a tennis player to make a decent/comfortable living?

Football of course.

as Stakhovsky said, the 100th best footballer in ukraine earns more than the 100th best tennis player in the world.

Re: What rank is required for a tennis player to make a decent/comfortable living?

10 years top 100 would mean 5 million dollars in price money. that's more than enough even after interest and tax.

Re: 10 RG Crowns: The Greatest Achievement In All Of Sports

It's a great achievement.
Toughest slam to win... that's nonsense, just a personal preference. Obviously the easiest to win for Nadal

Re: Is the big 4 the greatest myth in tennis?

Big 4 is good.

Big 3 would have some serious gaps in domination, e.g. Masters series.
Becaus Murray won a lot of them. Or Olympics.
Murray stands alone as two time single gold medalist.

Re: Is Borg grossly underrated?

who cares about a 2nd or 8th most important tournament?

When Borg played, the AO were meaningless.
And Wimbledon by far the most important tournament which..
US Open wasn't even best-of-5 for...

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

We have to assume that everyone can calculate at least a little bit
And with such weightings the list is simply nonsense.

That's not rude.
It's rude to state the opposite without a single...

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

Nobody would really, I mean really, count one slam final more than 20 titles. Simply too obvious.

Would Roddick have a better career with 12 titles and an addtional slam final instead of 32...

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

You proved, that you don't know a good example to support your theory.
I would say, Emilio Sanchez of course.
Never heard of Kim Warwick.

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

Brad Gilbert would surely be forgotten with zero titles.
With 20 titles he is still remembered.

If your theory would be right, you would have given a better example. But maybe you thought about a...

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

no he wouldn't. Apart from that, reaching one final would already be forgotten.

20 titles appear in the statistics.
A final appears nowhere.

Re: Slasher's Greatest of all Time List

The list is nonsense.

Reaching a slam final would be equal to winning 20 titles.

Don't count reaching finals or semi-finals. Only winning is relevant for statistics.

Re: The greatest players of all time to not get to 1.

MUrray is by far the greater player than vilas.

he won a lot of important titles.
What did Vilas? Australian Open? in the 70ies? meaningless.

Re: Olympic medals mean nothing? Best players disagree

Federer did.
Ljubicic once said, that this was his greatest success (after winning a single match at WTF).

But that doesn't really matter.

Olympics are only relevant for tennis pros since...

Re: Olympic medals mean nothing? Best players disagree

For Murray it was really something special.

he has two single gold medals and this is exclusive.

Apart from that he won when Great Britain takes part at the Olympics for the last time.
in 4...

Re: Which would you rather have: SOG or WTF title?

Corretja or Massu?

Corretja.

But he was the better player also on other stages. But he had the better career, without doubst. Massu has even two Olympic gold medals.

He reached probably the highest level.

Re: What could a second SOG mean?

It's comparable with Davis Cup.
Players like Djokovic say things like "davis cup would be the biggest.. "
but in reality his career would not be different if he would have won the Davis Cup.
But...

Re: Three players since 2009 have completed the Career Grand Slam!!
