Re: USO R3: Federer d. Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4 6-4

Unlucky draw for Kohlschreiber as usual. Federer was ok but broken for the first time this hc season (twice). He often seems a bit off immediately following a Nadal loss, I've noticed.

Re: Istanbul SF: (1)Roger Federer def. (8)Diego Sebastian Schwartzman 2-6 6-2 7-5

Not the best from Roger, hopefully he will play himself into better form for RG. Enjoyable match though - nice to see such a great effort from Schwartzman. He is an extremely likeable player.

Re: Delray Beach F: [4] Karlovic def. Young 6-3 6-3

Great to see Ivo win another title! You have to hand it to him, he was not just getting through by winning tiebreaks, but actually *dominated sets*. I honestly think he's noticeably improved his...

Re: Moscow R2: Gulbis def. Gimeno traver 6-3, 7-6(7-3)

Agreed, Gulbis himself looked bored
Typical complete loss of concentration when trying to close it out, but very easy for him overall, there was never doubt about the end result here. He was...

Re: Healthy Brian Baker

Apparently his knee is still so-so. Last I read, recovery permitting, he's aiming for a return in January.

Really hope he can give it another go. IMO healthy Baker could have gone deep in a...

Re: Tomic on a 3-week trial with Malisse

That is simply hilarious. Tomic hiring Xavier Malisse of all about playing to one's weaknesses! :cuckoo:
Maybe there is a strange contrarian logic in it after all, though,...

Re: How would you rank the American players right now?

Brian Baker's second comeback can't come soon enough.

Re: ATP 500: Beijing Draw Out

Great draw, a lot of interesting first round matches. Karlovic is certainly not the 2R opponent Nadal would wish for. I would love to see Gulbis-Nadal QF.

Re: Boodles - Gulbis def. Raonic 7-6,7-6

Just an exho, but really surprised to see so much S&V from Gulbis today - he executed really well, never seen him play like that. Even considering it's not hard to look good on grass when Raonic is...

Re: Catching that Smile - Pictures of Ernests

Naoko from Shonen Knife is a tennis fan! That's brilliant. I'm sure Gulbis would appreciate that rockstars are watching his matches. :D

Re: Halle R2: Dreddy Brown breadsticks Nadal 6-4 6-1

Agree. Too bad Dustin Brown wasn't paid the million euros or however much was shamefully handed over to Nadal in exchange for an embarrassing beatdown. If anyone, Brown was the one who deserved it....

Re: Halle R2: Dreddy Brown breadsticks Nadal 6-4 6-1

"Enjoy the fishing, Mr. Nadal."

I've never laughed so hard during a tennis match. The contrast between these two was one of the most comical things i've ever seen on a tennis court. Was...

Re: Wawrinka:"M.Norman refused so many good players. Murray not the player he used to

Exactly. Stan is the one who should get coached by Sharapova.

:haha: love him

Totally. Pova's already made it known she appreciates his sense of humour, too

Re: New Pictures on ATP Top 10 Rankings

Pretty awful as usual....ATP photographer somehow always manages to make most of these guys look worse than they actually are. Federer's pose looks ridiculous. Gulbis almost looks like Murray here...

Re: RG QF: Gulbis def Berdych 6-3 6-2 6-4

Finally a guy who doesn't just settle for a win over Federer, great to see. Still undefeated in France this year. Hope he makes the final against Nadal. Welcome to top 10 Ernests!

Re: New!! Best Looking out of Current Top 50

Prodigy is right
I've always thought Janowicz is in fact quite good-looking.

Re: Nice QF: Ernests Gulbis def. Dmitry Tursunov 6-3 3-6 7-6(5)

So much complaining and muttering all the time, but good effort in the end I guess. That one BP save at 5-5 was top class.

Re: Nice R2: Ernests Gulbis def. Martin Klizan 6-7(4) 6-4 6-1

Bad collapse from Klizan, including a completely botched easy volley putaway to hand Gulbis match point. Gulbis played much more relaxed and confident in the third, some nice dropshots and very good...

Re: Rome R2: Gulbis def. Robert 6-7(1-7), 6-4, 6-3

I thought Robert played really well, and Gulbis seemed to come out underestimating him, expecting to cruise after getting up an early break. He looked almost like he was on the practice court in that...

Re: Flying Higher in 2014 - the Cheering and Hair Tearing Thread

This is a good point; I actually think Isner is preferable opponent for that reason (and less effective on this surface than he was on hard and at home in Indian Wells - Ernests won their only...

Re: Bracelona QF: Gulbis def. Gabashvili 6-1, 6-4

A half hearted attempt to choke when serving for match, otherwise really good from Gulbis. Never faced a break point until going 0-40 in final game with three completely unforced errors. :o
