Re: Predict the top 10 at the end of 2016

A lot of people predict Federer will fall in the rankings. The reality is he may not fall in the rankings, but if he does, and especially if there are any injuries, he could just look at retirement...

Re: WWW ? Paris R2: (4) S. Wawrinka v B. Tomic

Funny enough, but it is still possible not to have the result, as all possible outcomes were not in the poll. Walkover or injury during the match could produce another result :)

Re: Generation 85-89, one of the best ever. Generation 90-94, probably the worst

The question is, will the 95-98 group fulfill their promise or 'derail' as so many of the 90-94 group did? I suggest it is not so much that there was no talent amoungst the 90-94 group, and that at...

Re: Nick's Hard Court Season 2015 (from USO onwards)

Do you mean it would be better to be outside the 32 and perhaps face Djokovic first round when he may be rusty or something?

Edit: Also, why 25-32. Are you suggesting that the rule that each group...

Re: Valencia R2: Cuevas def. (3) Tomic 3-6 6-3 6-4

It was all a big mistake. Tomic misread the draw and was expecting 'Cervezas' and 'Cuervo' mixed together.

Re: Stockholm R2: Baghdatis def. Tomic 7-6(7) 6-3

True. But consistency is key to being a top player.

Hmmm...but Tomic is known for consistency in having a party!

Re: Newcombe medal contenders

I find it difficult to believe that Sam Groth would have won every year under your system.

Re: Shanghai 2015 QF: Djokovic d. Tomic 7-6(6), 6-1

I recall in the 'poll' thread, many predicting Tomic to win more games in the second than the first and thinking.....doesnt sound like Tomic.

He was close in the first and if he had won he may...

Re: WWW? Shanghai QF: [1] Novak Djokovic vs Bernard Tomic

4 years ago, when Tomic was 18, Djokovic 24.

But who has improved more in the last 4 years? Probably the player who has worked harder at improving.

In fact, judging by their matches around...

Re: Nick Kyrgios during match: "I hate this place."

That he complained is not a problem.

It is his behaviour in how he complained.

Re: Who Is The Best Player In The Top 100 Yet To Win A Title?

Kyrgios maybe the highest ranked to not have won a title.

Re: Why doesn't Djokovic play as aggressive against other players as against Nadal?

Questioning tactics a player of the level of Djokovic uses against different opponents: great subject for discussion

Declaring player should take your advice and change tactics: Either you are...

Re: WWW ? Beijing QF: (1)Novak Djokovic Vs. (6)John Isner

Head to Head is interesting.

Isner has never won a set from Djokovic by a break, every set ever won by Isner has been 7-6 except for one 7-5 win.

Every match between the two, the winner of the...

Re: Serious discussion, tennis is in the worst shape it's ever been

So what has changed? I suggest the money for a rising star reaching even top 50 level is enough to get distracted and go partying and lose the work ethic.

For even Federer, Nadal, Djokovic Murray...

Re: Serious discussion, tennis is in the worst shape it's ever been

The point I am trying to say is Becker, being ranked 20 before Wimbledon in 1985 (age 17), was not already getting so much wealth and distraction while ranked a top 40 player that it derailed him...

Re: Serious discussion, tennis is in the worst shape it's ever been

There has been a period where younger players just do not seem to reach the very highest tier.

I think is the increase in fame an money. Look at Tomic for example.

- Young player looks like...

Re: No male player in the open era won multiple slams at 28

What qualifies a player for this list, given it clearly does not list all winners of slams who were over 30 at the time? Does it include all those aged 30 or 31 but ignores winners over 31? Seems...

Re: Are we really in an Open Era?

Yes, pro tournaments had prize money, other tournments did not, but it is a little more than that.
Think about an sporting competition at junior school. You win a pennant, maybe even a medal or a...

Re: France F18 QR1: Tichanne (1946) def. Ferreira (1996) 6-4 6-0

And there was another thread questioning if tennis today is still 'open' or if tennis is now closed to amateurs. This to me certainly proves amateurs are still able to enter!
