Re: New Masters on Grass at the cost of losing a 1 Masters on Clay?

Why would you remove a clay masters? There are only 2.5 of them anyway. And Rome and MC are beautiful.

Get rid of one of the North American HC Masters. Possibly IW/Miami on the basis that you could...

Re: Marcelo Rios to contest Australian Open 1998 final outcome?

Interesting. I think there are so many intangibles here. Rios would be a far more fitting winner of a slam than Korda but that's not really how it works. Will be intrigued to see how it progresses.

Re: Who was better to watch: Sampras or Agassi?

Sampras wasn't all serve, he could do other things, but given the courts in the 90s, it did feel like during his service games you basically just watched a series of aces and unreturnables.

For me...

Re: Roger Federer tossing bottles in an endless loop

It's not like this is new. He did it in Miami against Djokovic in 2009 too.

Re: What defeat have you enjoy the most so far this year?

Not many, I don't think it's good for tennis when the top players play badly. In fact I'd say the opposite. Upsets are great when both players are playing well and the underdog comes through - less...

Dubai R2: (3) A Murray def. J Sousa 6-0 6-2

Very comfortable for Andy, Sousa has little to hurt him with.

Nice to see Andy win so comfortably at a smaller event in the early months of the year. Rare.

Re: Marseille F: (5) Simon def. (7) Monfils 6-4 1-6 7-6(4)

Simon absolutely deserved to win. So pleased for him, he was generally the player controlling the point although of course Gael had a lot of winners from the defensive etc.

Re: Marseille [QF]: Bautista Agut def. Thiem 7-6(7) 6-3

At 6-6 in the tiebreak the two had literally the same service stats. Both had 60% first serves in, both had 20/25 1st serve points won and both had 10/17 second serve points won. Such a lovely little...

Re: Wimbledon ballot

Definitely possible to enter Centre Court. There are two methods. At around 4/5pm some people will leave and they can leave their tickets 'for charity' - what this means is those tickets can be...

Re: Marseille [R2]: Bolelli def. Raonic 6-4 3-6 7-6(3)

Simone! Well done, so so SO pleased for him. Don't think he'll get it in Marseille but would love for him to get a title somewhere this year, anywhere TBH I don't care where!
So great that his form...

Re: Marseille R1: Bolelli def. Vanni 6-4, 7-6(7-4)

I know Vanni is the new darling of MTF and I, too, enjoyed his SP run. But very happy for Simone to get the win here.

Because Hard Courts are like 70% of the tour anyway?

Re: The toughest 3 non top 15 opponents for these players?

I assume we're talking active players against those you've named. And I assume we're talking currently not top 15? Or never top 15?

The classic example in this kind of scenario is obviously...

Re: Rotterdam QF: [8] Simon def. [1] Murray 6-4 6-2

Ah well, I'm pleased for Gilles and would rather he got a win over Andy here than elsewhere. Would be nice if Gillou could go on and win Rotterdam now.

Re: Better forehand: Peak Del Po or Peak Gonzalez

DP's is less liable to breakdown than Gonzo's. But at their peak Gonzo's is greater.

Re: Rotterdam R2: Andy Murray (1) def. Vasek Pospisil 6-3 7-5

The point with which Andy saved set point in the second set was great. Lots of long rallies in this match.

Rotterdam R2: (8) Gilles Simon def. Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-3

Gilles didn't face a break point, had a good first serve percentage, kept Chardy deep in the rallies and generally played well. Jeremy too inconsistent to challenge seriously. Gilles' backhand return...

Perhaps but his movement and return game have definitely improved under Delgado. I'd say his sporadic form up until now has made sense because he hasn't had much of a b game. There's more about his...

Re: Rotterdam R1: Andy Murray (1) def. Nicolas Mahut 6-3 6-2

TIghter than the scoreline suggested. Murray won 2 long games at the start of the second which demoralised Mahut a bit I think. Onwards and upwards.

Re: Rotterdam/Memphis/Sao Paulo

Definitely lucky but you could make the relevant point that it was unfair that they even had to qualify given how much higher ranked in doubles they are than Sousa and RBA
