I think Federer needs a long break badly

I honestly think considering his age he's pushed himself too hard in 2014 by playing too many tournaments, and going deep in almost every one of them. From the start of the clay season in 2014 he's...

Is Federer the new matchpoint saving GOAT?

Previously it was Djokovic, in USO 2010, USO2011, and I think Shanghai Masters 2013 (?) he saved five MPs against Murray.

Now Federer saves 2MP in USO QF 2014 against Monfils, 5MP in Shanghai...

Has Federer screwed himself for 2015?

For a 33 year old his results and consistency this year has been tremendous.

This year to date he has achieved the following:

1 - Brisbane (F)
2 - AO (SF)
3 - Dubai (W)
4 - Indian Wells (F)
5 -...

Was the crowd really cheering for Nishikori?

I didn't watch the match but it seemed that the crowd showed strong support for Nishikori over Djokovic.

But I'm wondering did the crowd cheer for Nishikori because they genuinely wanted him to win?...

DId Federer just miss his best chance at Slam #18?

The US Open draw this year has been the easiest he's had for a long time. Then a gift came from the heavens when Nishikori beat Djokovic.

Unfortunatley he could not capitalize on this opportunity. I...

I'm afraid Federer is simly too tired....

For a 33 year man he's played a monster schedule this year. In most tournaments he played he went very deep or reached the final.

He played both Indian Wells & Miami. Played Halle right before...

How long can Federer maintain his consistency for?

I'm wondering if Federer can possibly maintain his current consistency until his late 30s.

Other than a less than desirable 2013 due to injuries, his results in Grand Slams are incredibly...

Re: Federer needs to see a psychologist ASAP

I think he still believes that he can at least go very deep in Slams, if not win them. The mentality of a competitor is never that they just play for fun and don't aim to win.

There was NO EXCUSES...

Federer needs to see a psychologist ASAP

In recent years he has shown to be seriously mentally weak and can suffer horrendous and prolonged mental meltdowns if something doesn't go his way.

Not to mention his BP and SP conversion record....

Re: Federer's GS Performance in 2013

Valid points above..... but going from thrashing guys left and right in less than 90 minutes (which even Novak, Rafa, and Murray cannot do) to being on the receiving end of the trashing is a long way...

Federer's GS Performance in 2013

Noticed a unsettling pattern since 2013 FO....

Federer would dominate the first few matches and win them in record time, but suddenly out of nowhere absolutely bombs his next match against any...

Re: Loopsided h2h between Fedal

Guys..... The most lopsided factor is that Nadal is 6 younger than Federer.

What's the main reason behind Federer's sharp decline this year

He wasn't winning much slams in the years of 2010, 2011, and 2012. But nonetheless he was consistently making QF and SF of slams, and winning Masters titles and WTFs.

But 2013 is a bit of a...

Re: Is Federer Ruining his Legacy?

No he is not at all. No tennis player will retire when he's still better than the vast majority of his peers.

Sure his results in 2013 aren't up to his usual standards. But consider this, in slams...

What do you think of Federer's relationship with the other top players are like?

Here's my take,

Nadal - It's only because of the significance of their rivalry Federer puts on a happy face with...

Federer finishing 3/5 Set matches in 1.5 Hours

Ok this is obviously a pro Fed thread. How does this guy do this? The early rounds matches in Grand Slams he barely takes 1.5 hours to finish.

Just another reason that proves why he is undoubtedly...

Has Federer won any big (ish) matches from MP down?

Does anyone have any stats on this?

I certainly remember him losing a whole bunch of important matches from match-point UP. But I don't remember any important occasions where he won from MP...

Re: Biggest choke by player

A lot of Federer's matches are epic chokes.

2009 AO vs Nadal
2009 USO vs Del Potro
2010 USO vs Djokovic
2011 Wimbledon vs Tsonga
2011 US Open vs Djokovic
2012 AO vs Nadal

Re: Lack of a Villain in Tennis?

If this was the WWE

Federer is the face, equivalent to John Cena.

Nadal is the heel, equivalent to Edge (when he was heel).

Djokovic is CM Punk.

Re: Who holds the most unnatractive stroke in the game?

Nadal's forehand
Nadal's backhand
Nadal's serve
Nadal's volley
Nadal's backhand volley (if it exist, I don't think it does)
Nadal's slice

Nadal's butt picking

Nadal's time wasting

A question for the ladies.... Does Federer have sex appeal?

I'm a guy and definitely 100% straight.

But I sometimes wonder about this. I don't hear a lot of ladies claiming Federer to be "hot" or "sexy" etc.....

I normally hear these words spoken about...

Re: Does Federer hold the record for the most profound losses?

I think he actually also holds the record for most matches lost after holding match point(s).

USO 2010, USO 2011, Paris Masters 2010, Dubai 2013, these are just the ones I can think of.

Does Federer hold the record for the most profound losses?

He certainly holds the unofficial title of "GOAT" backed up by his mind blowing records.

But at the same time I feel he's lost more important matches than any other player, matches that he could and...
