Re: Umag R1: (#417) Trinker def. Youzhny 2-6 6-3 6-3

This goodbye tour has been tough to watch.

Re: Bastad R1: Gulbis def Ilhan 6-2 6-0

Granted, Ilhan was coming off the DC weekend.

But it had to annoy Gulbis beyond belief that this guy is actually ranked higher than him.

Re: We need a WAWRINKA - MURRAY final on grass

Stan has never been especially reliable on grass so it's tough to see him in the final. That said, if this match did happen, I think it'd be more like the first-match-completely-under-the-roof...

Re: Karlovic, Muller, Mahut, Janowicz at Wimbledon

I would say "no" but Janowicz has already proven this could happen.

Mahut has a rather poor record at Wimbledon given his grass court prowess (even ignoring the Isner run-ins) so I don't think he...

Re: Wild Cards

What Dustin is saying is that, if the WCs aren't used, the next ranked players get in. He's (unofficial until Delpo withdraws) second alternate.

Re: Wimbledon 2015 Projected Seeding Discussion (3 of 32 seeds confirmed)

Remember that Halle/Queens just this year became 500 events. So a Halle/Queens final is worth so much more than any past grass results.

Re: del Potro US Open 2009 vs Murray US Open 2008

Andy won all their hard court matches in 2008 and 2009 (4 in all, including 2009 WTF when Delpo later beat Federer en route to the final) so I would pick Murray in 4.

Re: Houston R1: Go Soeda def. [WC] Lleyton Hewitt 4-6 7-6(3) 6-3

The stops on Hewitt's farewell tour include places he's had success. Hewitt won this tournament in 2009.

Re: WWW Davis Cup: United States vs. Great Britain

Querrey is injured (back) but he's also been awful this year. I also wouldn't want him playing James Ward in a fifth rubber after what happened last year.

Johnson would seem to be the other...

Re: Players that were in the top 10, that people may have forgot about.

Brad Gilbert being a Top 5 player. We know he's introduced as such but I seriously don't remember him being in the elite.

Also, it's at a time like this we should all be happy Troicki botched the...

Re: Journalist from New Zealand trashes Isner for withdrawing from Auckland

As soon as I heard Gimelstob say on-air that John was fine (not even bothering with the word "tired"), I knew an article like this would surface.

Re: French article saysTsonga will soon announce his withdrawal from the Australian O

Remember reading somewhere Gasquet had said that Tsonga was getting paid one million dollars to play IPTL. That was very good incentive to play while injured. I imagine similar with Cilic.

Re: Doha Entry List (updated December 28, 2014)

There are 4 in the qualifying draw - none have a ranking. I'd say they're wasting spots but a player ranked in the 1600s got in qualies.

Jaziri and Safwat are the only WCs I've seen mentioned......

Re: Out of the current top 10, is Nadal the most aesthetically pleasing player to wat

I'd actually say Rafa's game is the least aesthetically pleasing of the Top 5.

Re: Biggest Flop: Donald Young or Freddy Adu?

Adu. I cannot even think of a tennis comparison but Young is definitely better than that.

Re: Who is the better player : Gasquet, Monfils or Simon ?

I'm amazed all three have the same number of wins over Top 8 players, given Monfils is the one proclaimed to be the best against the elite.

That in mind, Gasquet. Monfils is useless in finals.

Re: Would Bellucci be a top 10 with the way he played in Davis Cup last week?

His career high ranking is #21. The third option does seem reasonable.

Re: Have Karlovic, Isner and Raonic ever won a set 6-0 ?

The "trade bagels" match is so rare but it involving Raonic and Llodra on clay is special.

Re: Draw Luck of Lower Ranked Players

I hadn't even looked at Sock's draw when I posted so didn't realize he was in that Nishikori section. I also just noticed Raonic's cakewalk to the quarters.

Re: Draw Luck of Lower Ranked Players

Definitely agree regarding Kubot. He got the walkover when Darcis couldn't play after beating Rafa. Other clear beneficiaries from the 2013 chaos - as in players who got far without causing upsets...
