Re: Next journeyman in GS final.

Interesting question....maybe one day Philipp Petzschner will sneak into a Wimbledon final? He’s got some game & is your quintessential journeyman.

Re: Djokovic will win 10 slams?

Yep, and continues serving well. His serve went AWOL after about 2008 but he's regained the consistency & potency of it. Also, can he win majors when he's not playing well? That's another quality...

Re: Who'll Have The Better Career - Monfils or Gasquet?

I’ll go with Monfils. Gasquet though has far more potential but he lacks severely in the mental strength category, and that’s key to beating the top guys.

Re: Will there be another Roger Federer?

Doubt it….but then again in Sampras’ waning years everyone doubted we’d see another Sampras on tour. We didn’t but someone even better turned up: Roger Federer.

I don’t expect we’ll see another...

Re: AO R1 - Mayer def. Davydenko 6-3 4-6 7-6(4) 6-4

Mayer is no slouch & can be a tough opponent for the top players, but still Davy should’ve beaten him....

Not a good start but it’s just the beginning of the year.

Re: Slowest player in the top 50?

Karlovic, easily. His movement is very slow and so his opponents can hit winners off of even slow-paced groundstrokes.

A bit sad he has no game apart from that serve and reach at the net....that...

Re: Doha SF: WWW Nadal vs Davydenko

Well, much like how people end an email message with their name, just doing the same except with my forum handle on a forum. Just a habit.

Re: Federer vs Tsonga Doha

I say the GOAT takes this in two competitive sets. I haven’t seen Tsonga play in ages. Does he still do some s/v? That’ll be his only chance...

Re: Doha SF: WWW Nadal vs Davydenko

He's been sick. I'm assuming he's getting better though.

I say Nadal will take this match in three.

Their final last year was great, hopefully this match will live up to it.

Re: Nadal clinches year-end no. 1 for second time

Hewitt's two consecutive years at no.1 is about the only thing he has over Nadal. In terms of achievements and ability he was outclassed by Nadal a few years ago...

Re: Hello From Pakistan

Hello Bilal, and welcome to our...very passionate forum :D Nice to hear a bit about you. I'm a right handed player too, but with a single-handed backhand, and a very erratic serve!

Hope you have...

Re: Hi from Sydney, Australia!

Howdy, nice to hear from you, and welcome to MTF. I'm far from even a decent tennis player, but still love playing and watching the game too. There's just nothing in sport for me as exciting as...

Re: Hello from Roland Garros!

Yeah, I like his flair. And he's humble in both victory and defeat. He has the talent to be in the top 20 IMO.

Re: Maybe Pete just didn't try hard enough

How can someone 1-dimensional win 14 slams (including 7 on a hardcourt)?

His game wasn’t the least bit 1-dimensional, it was all-round serving, volleying and varied groundstrokes. IMO Sampras had a...

Re: Who is the better hardcourter? Nadal or Murray?

In Djokovic's form in the final, I think so yes. But with Djokovic playing SF form & AO 2008 form, doubt it. His controlled aggression and hitting huge on the key points would defeat Murray I...

Re: Who is the better hardcourter? Nadal or Murray?

On achievements alone, Nadal no doubt.

But in ability…I think it’s close. I may tip the edge to Nadal because he’s getting more aggressive on the surface and now has a beefed up serve. ...

Re: Will Rafa win the Serena Slam?

Well, if he wins the Aussie, he's a GOAT contender. If he goes on to win the FO and make it 5 slams in a row that seals the GOAT discussion right there.

AO 2011 is going to be HUGE...

Re: Will Nadal's victory give Federer motivation to push past 16?

A resurgence can still occur for Federer (& let’s not forget he’s the reigning AO champ!). There will be periods where his peak game will reappear and he could be blessed with a very soft draw...

Re: Slam predictions for 2011

I think Nadal will be very very motivated and inspired for AO 2011 (at least, I hope he will be), because he’s got a shot at a non-calendar year Grand Slam. That is absolutely huge and will have...

Re: Will Nadal's victory give Federer motivation to push past 16?

The fact Nadal is edging closer and closer to Federer's majors record is more than enough motivation to keep going. He’s still got the fire and passion, and is still incredibly tough to beat. ...

Re: 2009 AO Nadal vs 2010 USO Nadal

Yes agreed. He’s going to be even harder to stop now, will probably take the field a while to catch up and evolve their own games to the extent Nadal has.

I wonder how much more Rafa can...
