Re: Which new Grand Slam champion would like you to see crowned at the US Open 2010?

Nice to see Nalbandian in the lead here in the polls. The best shot he's got at this is quick straight sets for the first 5 rounds.

Re: What is your opinion on Climate Change?

The Economist last week published letters to the Editor as regards their November 28th article. The following letters are pretty informative about the legitimate concerns some have.

Re: Blood Spinning

A couple/few years ago when Nadal was playing the US OPEN he talked about special treatments to his knees and I suspect this is the procedure he used. Effective for the tendonitis in his knees.

Re: Poll: Do you think Federer even cares about grand slams anymore?

The guy loves to win and is one of the most competitive professional athletes I've ever seen. The day he doesn't care about winning a slam anymore is the day he hangs up his racket.

Blood Spinning

Blood spinning is done to speed up recovery from injury, and involves taking some of a player's own blood, putting it into a centrifuge and separating out the platelets, or red and white blood cells,...

Re: IVANISEVIC or DJOKOVIC??

First of all, the good news is that Novak Djokovic is not managed by Ion Tiriac's group, specifically Gerard Tsobanian who might actually retire best known as the manager/agent most likely to...

Re: Given the slighest chance, who can get to number 1 first?

Juan Martin Del Potro. Still needs work on his grass game but he's pretty close to being a complete player and doesn't wait all day long for his opponents to make errors. He wins points. Nice move...

Re: Why doesn't Roger Federer compete in the Davis Cup for Switzerland

I'm not so sure about this claim. The ending of the cold war and the fact that everyone sees the same players week in and week out, 11 months out of year renders DC much less relevant. The noisy...

Re: Brad Gilbert To Join Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy

Is this just IMG amping up its investment to go head to head against Higueras and the USTA Elite Player Development program?

It would be interesting to see how many world class players emerge...

Re: Indian Wells Draw

The question is which half plays first? Do they start with the bottom half like last year? Or is it a coin toss that won't be published until the first round schedule is posted?

Re: Who Is Better R.Gasquet Or A.Murray??

If we're talking who is a better tennis player, the results speak for themselves.

Re: Federer's 'weak' backhand

Roger's got the greatest all court game since Laver, but in the last two years I have noticed that he is pulling up on his backhand--both with his slice, drive, and topspin.

His preparation is...

Roger Federer and I'd like to see him give Stefan Edberg a call.

Re: Why Does Novak Retires So many times?

Has Martina Navratilova or Jimmy Connors ever defaulted from a match because they weren't feeling well? I wasn't watching tennis during their era but I having a feeling the answer is never unless...

Re: Why Does Novak Retires So many times?

I've not heard any commentators say that Djokovic is asthmatic. He's got weird breathing problems and had surgery on his nose 2 years ago to help improve matters. Apparently, he wasn't able to get...

Re: Let me get this right... about Nadal's schedule

If Nadal gets to and plays a tough Rome final, he'll pull out of Hamburg.

Re: Why Does Novak Retires So many times?

I don't think Djokovic yet realizes how his match retirements will affect his future as he's not faced down extreme situations such as the gs final situation I described below. Tsonga did not put up...

Recent retirements:

2008 SF Monte Carlo to Federer 6-3, 3-2

2008 Davis Cup to Davydenko to hand Russia a 3-2 win over Serbia in February.

2007 SF Wimbleon 2007 to Nadal

I suspect the "tactic" is a result of Reto being in Miami.

Re: Roddick To Skip Olympics

The Olympic Games in Beijing chew up a lot more time than the 7-day event (August 10-17th). At a minimum, players have to allocate another week on either side of the event for preparation, jet-lag,...

Re: Roddick defeats the future GOAT Djokovic 7-6(5) 6-3 to reach Dubai Final

Well I'm afraid I've not looked that closely at Marko since he spends the least amount of time in the stands cheering on his brother. He's probably working one of the girls playing in the 14s or 18s...

Re: Roddick defeats the future GOAT Djokovic 7-6(5) 6-3 to reach Dubai Final

Isn't he the one who wears the "L" on those white shirts and always gets in trouble with his mother for running off when she wants them all to stand up and cheer so Novak sees "N O L E?" He might not...

Re: Roddick defeats the future GOAT Djokovic 7-6(5) 6-3 to reach Dubai Final

Which Djokovic coud be GOAT? Novak or Djordje? Rumor has it the youngest of the three brothers is the most talented and typically, younger siblings do better in tennis.
