Re: Blake Mott Cheering Thread

Nice surprising result! This should give his career a big boost after he's stagnated in the rankings the past year or so

Re: Australian Open 2016 General Discussion + Australian Summer Hardcourt Season

Wozniacki has probably left the country so she can't even tweet Channel 7 and tell them to show women's matches :hysteric:

I would have though Birrell against a top 10 seed warranted airtime, but...

Re: Another Australian Young Gun: Omar Jasika

I'll happily take big occasion players over Stosur. Her match last night was fucking painful to watch.

Awesome results for Omar though. He really showed us all for saying he didn't deserve the WC...

Re: AO qualifying and MD wildcards

As we suspected/knew, the last two wildcards have gone to Thompson and Ebden

Re: AO qualifying and MD wildcards

Whittington is now serving for the match up 5-2 in the third. I wonder what he did in his off season to come out firing at the start of this season? Maybe he's trying to catch up to Kontaveit in the...

Re: Matthew Barton Thread

Even though he may miss qualifying, he would be stupid to give up the opportunity to play someone like Ferrer. This is easily the biggest match of his career

Re: Australian Open 2016 General Discussion + Australian Summer Hardcourt Season

Barton backs up his win over Kudla yesterday by beating 32nd ranked Johnson 6-3 3-6 6-3. He's making a strong case for the last Australian Open wildcard if TA is still undecided!

Re: Australian Open 2016 General Discussion + Australian Summer Hardcourt Season

Matt Barton just won the first set against Kudla 6-2. This would be a nice win for him!

Re: Australian Open 2016 General Discussion + Australian Summer Hardcourt Season

Thompson's Sydney wildcard pretty much confirms his AO wildcard. If he wins a match this week he won't be able to play AO quallies

Re: Australian Open 2016 General Discussion + Australian Summer Hardcourt Season

Erlich is 16 and seems to be a local... Judging by his junior and senior results he will struggle to win games. Bit of an odd wildcard choice really

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Banes beats Farinola 6-0 6-2. Have to agree it looks very suspicious especially with this result

Re: Oliver Anderson - A new rising star...

^^I tend to agree with Azza. Oliver's two wins so far this week have been great, but they are just that - two wins. Nothing else he has done before this has warranted consideration for a MDWC....

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

In addition to those two wins, Oliver Anderson beat Smyczek who is almost top 100. Three remarkable upsets, hopefully a sign of good things to come this summer!

Re: Newcombe medal contenders

Congrats to Sam, but this award seems to be becoming more and more of a boys club award every year. I guess they will claim he won it for being an ambassador for the sport, surely not for that single...

Re: 2015 - 18 & Under December Showdown

^Well it's certainly a better looking field than previous years. The winner of the 18s might actually be the best under 18 player for once

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Smith has really lost all the momentum he had built up until the US Open. In hindsight he probably would have been better off playing Asian/Australian challengers.

Meanwhile in Wollongong,...

That's good to see. Although I'm slightly surprised he's going overseas again since Lois is due to give birth in a few weeks

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

He has 16 points to defend for the rest of the year from two Thai futures tournaments, and I reckon his season will be done after Wollongong next week. He's a chance, but he could miss out if he...

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Also, Van Peperzeel and Anderson lost their second round qualifying matches in Kobe. Reid did end up getting SE into the main draw.

[SE] Reid vs [3] Soeda
Jasika vs...

Re: Aussies in Challengers and Futures

Mitchell wins Canberra with a convincing win over Saville 5-7 6-0 6-1, which bumps his ranking back up into the top 250. I know for the women's pro tour swing the best performer in the bigger...
