Re: How does your nervousness/anxiety affect your tennis game?

The tips I use, that I also use with the players I coach are:
-Develop goals for each match that are outside of "winning"
-Get a good team around you that is able to encourage you (and not just help...

Take the legs out of your serve to begin with.
Get the ball toss over the left shoulder if you're are right hander.
Practice dropping the racquet behind your head and brushing the back of your hair...

Re: Tennis today: What we need less of:

Big boring servers.

Re: The Implication of Nadal's Recent Success

I don't think Nadal is the type of player (and his team) who will come back underprepared. Sure he didn't have a number of matches under his belt but he's timed it perfectly to suit RG and the later...

Re: Problem finishing sets, matches

Another point to throw in there is to stop focusing on the outcome and start focusing on the process involved. Are you focusing on winning a point (outcome) or are you focusing on setting up the...

Re: Sore fingers

I haven't ever heard of someone having finger pain. You should always keep your finger grip on the handle loose, so that you can "play the piano" i.e. lift your fingers up and down off the grip like...

Re: Good gym program for tennis?

Re: What Racquet do you use?

Head Extreme Pro 315grams. Swapped from the very similar Babolat Pure Drive, just because of our affiliation with Head. Plays great though!

Re: Hand cramp w/ grip

It's common for players to hold a grip too tight. You should be able to "play the piano" with your fingers (i.e. move them up and down while you hold your grip) so that it is kept loose in your...

Re: Which conditions do you like to play in the best?

I won the most during tough conditions because of my fitness level, but in terms of what I enjoy the most, it would be a warmish spring day, that has some cloud cover. Put me on hardcourt and and I'm...

Re: Good gym program for tennis?

It hasn't been mentioned here yet, but if you're playing competitive tennis then your fitness/strength training needs to line up in terms of the time of the season you're in. All strength training...

Re: Winshield Wiper Forehand

Re: Have a question about two-handed backhand?

Yes it should always be your non-dominant hand. Tie that in with as described above a relaxed shot, let natural acceleration and deceleration occur on your swing, or you won't get the racquet head...

Re: Tomic on clay 2013

Tough road ahead for him on clay. Though give him a couple years and some more incentives and encouragement to develop his clay court game, and hopefully he'll pull through. This year I feel will be...
