roland garros tickets

for each of the last 3 years i've gotten tickets to roland garros for the first week pretty easily through the french open website. this year they've changed the system where the general public only...

it's not a show. it's just a commercial.

Re: Whats up with Federer's backhand

that's not correct. look at the match in canada against djokovic and on clay against nadal. he'll win his share but more often than not, his backhand will break down or give up the short ball. if...

Re: Whats up with Federer's backhand

federer's backhand is good but it's not one of the top 10-15 in the world. i'd take backhands like gasquet, ljubicic, djokovic, haas, nalbandian, safin, stepanek, davydenko, youzhny etc over...

Re: Duck vs "AMW" Berdych 7/6 2/0 ret.

berdych is a mental midget. he needs to man up and play up to his talent capabilities.

Re: Nole def. Roger 76 26 76. Djokovic revolution has just begun!

just another example of the fact that federer doesn't have a top 10 backhand in the world. anyone who disputes that is clueless.

Re: You guys really buy the "slow" grass?

1996 roland garros seemed faster primarily b/c there was a heat wave in paris during those 2 weeks which resulted in the court playing very quickly. thus, the success of sampras and stich that year.

Re: You guys really buy the "slow" grass?

i actually like the new surface. i couldn't stand the serve, ace or serve, missed return points of the past. to anyone who doesn't see a difference in how the court is playing, they need to open...

Re: Is Wimbledon the worst prepared sporting event in the world...

ok:
1) play on all courts and on all days (regardless of weather) should start at 11 am. 1 pm is ridiculous and puts the players scheduled last at a disadvantage b/c they never know if they're going...

Re: You guys really buy the "slow" grass?

they changed the type of material used in the grass after 2001. not coincidentily, the finals went from ivanisevic/rafter to hewitt/nalbandian. there is no argument there. the grass is still...

Re: Is it true that grass courts are slower now?

they changed the type of grass AFTER 2001. it's not a coincidence that the 2002 final was hewitt vs. nalbandian. federer served/volleyed a majority of the time when he beat sampras in 2001. now he...

Re: Which players smoke?

we've got a lot of people throwing out a lot of names w/o knowledge of what actually goes on. a lot of the players have probably smoked a few cigarettes when they are out drinking, partying, or...

Re: The MTF French Open meeting thread! Olga will be there! (Who'll be my translator?)

if they don't have any show court tickets available for that friday, i'm thinking about buying a grounds pass and using some of my ticket stubs from last year to get in at one of the show courts. ...

Re: Miloslav Mecir

played a lot like karol kurcera, who actually became his coach during kucera's playing days. in fact, i'd consider kucera to be a poor man's mecir.

Re: Nadal's topspin vs. Carlsson's

not really, but those youtube clips of carlsson playing against noah made me bring up that question. obviously his forehand was very unusual and i wonder how he would have done in today's game with...

Re: Sampras - Agassi 2002 US Open Final

agassi got screwed b/c he played the second semi-final match the day before and had an extremely tough 4 set win over hewitt who was ranked #1 in the world. sampras had an easy straight set win over...

Re: Nadal's topspin vs. Carlsson's

looking at his results through www.atptennis.com, i found it interesting that even b/f that Indian Wells tournament in early 1987, he only played 3-4 hard court tournaments, only played the US Open...

Re: Nadal's topspin vs. Carlsson's

george,
did carlsson injure his knee(s) in a specific incident or did he have knee problems in the juniors? i know he was a bigtime junior.

Re: Nadal's topspin vs. Carlsson's

you are thinking about kenneth carlsson from denmark who still plays today. i'm talking about kent carlsson from sweden who got into the top 10 in the late 1980s while still a teen but had to retire...

Nadal's topspin vs. Carlsson's

i don't think anyone will argue that Nadal hits more topspin than anyone in the game right now. i've also heard from some people and seen some brief clips that kent carlsson hit with more topspin...
