Re: Who will be Fed's new coach?

There are 2 reasons he won't select Cahill:
1) He lives in Aus., rather than nearby.
2) He has outside commitments.

As I recall, after the separation from Roche he made clear that he wanted someone...

Re: ********WTF, TMC, Shanghai - Whatever you want to call it!********

re Alex's comment (p. 28) on whether Roger will rally v. AR to help maintain his #1 status. Bet you $50 he's far more worried about being humiliated by Pete next week.

Re: ********WTF, TMC, Shanghai - Whatever you want to call it!********

Roger heading home tomorrow is as insane as gilbert coaching him, or his winning 3 Majors next yr.

He needs a strategy of replenishment 'cuz he's fried now. And still has 3 goddamn exos v. Pete next...

Re: ********WTF, TMC, Shanghai - Whatever you want to call it!********

Why should he publicly discuss how badly he's playing. Just say everything's fine thank you very much & walk away to deal w/things in his own way on his own time. No point in giving more ammo to the...

Re: RR: Federer def. Davydenko 6-4 6-3

At least davyd- had an excuse for such dismal play - he has an injured elbow.

Slightly OT - check out art. on Davyd- in Guardian. It starts thusly:

There has always been a suspicion, given Nikolay...

Re: ********WTF, TMC, Shanghai - Whatever you want to call it!********

Fed looks like he's aged 4 yrs. since AO. Relied on his serve, S/V & fleeting patches of brilliant play reminiscent of earlier times. First glimpses we've seen of an aging Fed. Very different than...

Re: ********WTF, TMC, Shanghai - Whatever you want to call it!********

It's not just the tennis. It's the demands of being #1. He has virtually no private time - esp. this yr. w/these crazy post-season exos v. Pete, where he can gain nothing since he's expected to win....

Re: Roger news and articles

From Daniel's post of Steve Bierley's Guardian art:

Federer's refulgent light

Would they please send American sportswriters to the British school of sports writing :)

Re: Roger news and articles

Flatman is always interesting. Re coaching - I wonder if there's a pain issue w/Cahill having been such good friends w/Peter.

Re: Fed no longer the genius he once was

Guess his juice supplier got busted this yr. :) Maybe he should find a new one, realize he's a washed up clown & join World Wrestling Tour : ) :) :)

That'd probably make a lot of you...

Re: "I don't practice as hard as I used to."

First off, speaking for myself, I'm not criticizing him. Just trying to read the tea leaves. Suggesting that he's in transit from Phase B to Phase C in his career, so it's up to us to adjust our...

gotta do your homework :) :)
Since no one posted this Essential Reading, I will. (Harman writes for Brit. Times.) I think it deserves its own thread. If people agree they can consolidate...

Re: madrid

THE END OF AN ERA

Is it purely coincidence that this loss coincides w/his separation from the Trainer he's had since he was a pup???

Re: Interesting Article: Federer Unstrung (That's why you cant own the Great's racque

re Pete's racquet - when he decided to hit the courts again, he called his Wilson rep. & asked for the racquet Fed's using. They sent it over. Don't know about stringing or customization.

Re: Novak Djokovic offered £110,000 to throw a match

If I may be so rude as to return this thread to its original topic. This from Tueday's Guardian - curious that it's totally unattributed:

Djokovic was offered £110,000 to throw match

Tuesday...

Re: Roger news and articles

It's funny how writers who chronicle tennis speaking of cracking pedestals, those who don't & are just tuning in are the ones singing songs to his dominance. Here's one from espn.com, by Scoop...

Re: USO Final: Fed vs. Djok - Who wins?

I only saw the 1st set of Djoker's semi, but I saw Roger's semi. He's clearly tired. Up until the semi, Fed's time of play was 9.3 hrs. Djoker's was 14.2. To me it's Djoker's match to lose. JMac &...

Re: ****** Us Open C'mon Roger Lets Make It Your 12th Grand Slam ******

Y'all are being insensitive. Djoker is Roger's successor @#1, longterm. He'll win a boatload of Major Trophies. Let's root for Ferrer to make prob. his only Major Final & play well in it :) Lord...

Re: ****** Us Open C'mon Roger Lets Make It Your 12th Grand Slam ******

Djoker looked so tight today that it would be a miracle if he were a serious threat in what would be his first final.

Re: ****** Us Open C'mon Roger Lets Make It Your 12th Grand Slam ******

Alex, don't you think Ferrer could have taken advantage of those continually short balls from RN far moreso than he did. I spent most of the last half of the match waiting for him to pounce on those....

Re: ****** Us Open C'mon Roger Lets Make It Your 12th Grand Slam ******

Awesome display from Ferrer. Hope he has enough left in the tank to make it to the final which he so richly deserves. The only downside is that a Thuggy-Djoker semi would have given Roger the first...

Re: Now how about a piggy roasting thread

Orlandofanz, as I said that's the difference btw. how he acts on court & what manners dictate he should say. Happily he observes those. Actually I think a lot of the acting out on court is covering...
