Should Wimbledon Make The Switch To (Green) Clay?

These two weeks at Wimbledon we saw a number of players slip on court just behind the baseline, both in the first week when the grass was lush, and in the second week, when the grass had worn and...

Top 10 Wimbledon Champions Of All Time

Federer is a great champion, but given his losses today & in 2008, and given how Sampras was invincible for a decade, winning 7 out of 7 finals in 8 years, Pete is still top of the tree for...

Re: Where does that final rank in history?

Good, but in terms of Wimbledon finals, nowhere near as memorable as 2008 & probably behind 2009 as well.

Re: Wimbledon F: Djokovic beats Federer 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-4, reclaims No. 1

The better player on the day won.

Federer played very well in patches but was unable to sustain a high level of play throughout the match. Djokovic really ought to have won the first set, but after...

Novak is genuinely hurt, this is why he is taking the injury timeout

Re: 2014 Live commentary thread vol. 18

If Novak loses here it will be tough for him to take mentally.

Re: Wimbledon R4: Kyrgios def. Nadal 76(5) 57 76(5) 63

Horrible from Nadal. Everything was short, around the service line, ready for Kyrgios to step in and pounce. No plan B. Seriously, was the worst I've seen him play in years.

Re: Wimbledon R2: Kyrgios def. Gasquet 3-6. 6-7, 6-4, 7-5, 10-8 (saves 9 MPs)

Yep. And vs Gonzalez at the AO. And vs Youzhny at the AO. And countless other times...I made a list a while back, think it's almost reached double figures.

Has Gasquet ever blown a 2-set lead in a major before?

Re: 2014 Live commentary thread vol. 16

Nadal is too humble to blame fatigue and injury, even when it's obvious. He always gives full credit to his opponent, that's just the sort of guy he is.

Re: 2014 Live commentary thread vol. 16

The real problem is that Wimbledon follows so soon after RG. Nadal is clearly nowhere near 100% physically.

Re: 2014 Live commentary thread vol. 16

Youzhny concedes a break after breaking serve. Has this ever happened before?

Re: WWW Wimbledon R2: Rosol vs Nadal

What are you talking about? Nadal has reached the Wimbledon final 5 times and won it twice? Clueless? You are describing yourself.

Everybody knows that Nadal was injured in Wimbledon 2012 as his...

Re: Wimbledon R1: Granollers def Mahut 64 76 67 64

Mahut drifted alarmingly in the betting markets from 1.30 to 1.47 before the start of the match. Was he carrying an injury, and did some people have inside knowledge of this injury?

Apart from vs Djokovic, has a fully fit Rafael Nadal lost a best-of-5 match since 08?

Looking at Nadal's record in majors, is it not fair to say that he has not lost a match unless injured/totally exhausted since 2008?

vs Soderling RG 2009 - clearly injured with knee issues
vs Del...

Re: Nadal to win AO without dropping a set?

Murray is not "injured" - hasn't looked to be troubled this tournament.

Re: Nadal to win AO without dropping a set?

Why is everyone assuming that Nadal will beat Murray in the SF with ease? Will be a very close match IMO.

Re: Australian Open QF classic (8) Wawrinka def. (2) Djokovic 2-6 6-4 6-2 3-6 9-7

Thoroughly deserved for Stan.

I think Wawrinka can win the AO if he plays Murray in the final, but against Rafa....chances very slim.
