Re: Your Favourite players best win and worst loss

Beckers Wimby loss to Stich is on my short list for worst losses.

For some reason, one of his best wins that come to my mind was his '89 Davis Cup match against Edberg (who is another of my fav...

Re: Question regarding: Laver, Borg & Sampras

[QUOTE=HKz;8835413]
And don't bring racket technology or speed of the game or whatever into this, because again, you don't have a time machine to be able to tell physically as humans, if players...

Re: Worst Servers in ATP

I wouldn't call it the worst, but up until last year, Nadal's didn't excatly strike fear in opponents hearts. His first serves were generally around 105-110 before working hard on it prior to the '08...

Re: Who has had a better career so far? Roddick or Hewitt?

I'm not much of a Hewitt fan, but I think he wins by virtue having won more slams, especially with it being Wimby.

Re: Serve and Volley Federer

McEnroe has made the comment that this generation was akin to watching a bunch of Lendl's, where almost all players are playing from the baseline. These things are cyclical and we will see the...

Re: What Really Happened During The 1983 U.S. Open Final?

I agree. Everyone should just pick and choose which rules they want to follow. Who cares. If you're
not cheating, you're not trying....

Please note that I said mix it up, not s&v exclusively.

Re: So what wat the best match of 2009 Wimbledon?

Good call. This was the one that came to my mind.

Re: Serve and Volley Federer

Not many s&v anymore, which is a shame. Everyone bangs it from the baseline and it makes no sense why some don't try and develop their net game more to mix it up. When everyone is zigging, it's time...

Re: What Really Happened During The 1983 U.S. Open Final?

So in my mind, if this is true, Lendl has 9 slams now and Connors 7. Who knows if Connors has cheated at other times. Someone needs to ask Connors and see if it's true.

Re: Anyone else thinks Tommy Haas has the most beautiful game on tour..?

As far as what's on tour now, his game is the one I would most like copy for myself.

Roland Garros and Wimbledon, too close on the schedule?

If this has been discussed before, I apologize. These two tournaments are generally thought of as the two most prestigious in the world. Are they too close together on the calendar? I suppose this...

Re: Wimbledon home of greatest finals......?

The Becker/Edberg matches were always entertaining.

The USO has had some great ones as well.

I am young, sort of. And if I have had a day, no one told me about it.

Re: Earliest, most memorable tennis match of your life

Borg and McEnroe at Wimby in '80. I was almost 9 years old and I still remember watching it with my mom who was a huge Borg fan.

Re: Why this is not a weak era.

That's not true. '90-'92.

Sampras won the USO in 1990 (runner up to Edberg in '92)

Edberg won Wimby in '90 (beat Becker) and the USO in '91 and '92 (finalist at AO in '90 before retiring to Lendl...

Re: Legends and Insane Talk about Roger Federer

On what surface? Rafa and Becker on clay, I agree. Rafa and Becker on grass or carpet? Becker would take him. But we'll never know, will we?

Re: Federer Is NOT The Greatest Of All Time

It's possible that that's because they have seen more tennis than you have.

Re: Why this is not a weak era.

I agree with this, although Beckers serve, both first and second, were pretty damn good.

I don't like or dislike Roddick, but I have watched alot of his matches and many of Beckers matches and...

Re: Is anyone else tired of seeing Federer win?

This will be another example of a truly great talent that will be sorely missed after he has stopped playing. Players like this leave a void in their sport when they leave that takes someone of...

Re: Can Nadal bounce back from injury and win the US Open?

If his knee is 100% healthy, maybe. He needs to get the rust off this summer and maybe win leading up to the USO. If he does that, I like his chances, but that's a big if that is dependant on his...

Re: Tommy Haas is the second best player in the world.

I enjoy watching Haas play. He is one of the few players that play quality serve and volley points and he is very talented. He strikes me as a player that would've thrived playing in the '80's. He's...

Re: Heartbreakers -- any others?

I agree, but I was/am such a Becker fan that it still made it tough to watch. At least it wasn't to a scrub. Stich lost to Kafelnikov at the Frech and Agassi at the US so he was a pretty good player...
