Re: Phil Bester

Getting hammered right now by a guy never ranked higher than his current 426. Hopefully he's under the weather and not injured.

Re: Phil Bester

Beat Nys and played Brands close (granted, Brands isn't playing as well as two years ago) - looks like Phil is on the way back to where he was, assuming he can stay healthy

Re: Phil Bester

Lost the singles final but squeaked out a tight win after being down a set to take the doubles title.

Re: Phil Bester

Solid win in singles today. Fingers crossed he's on the way back to the top 300

From trying Fed's racket, it would seem. http://opencourt.ca/frank-dancevics-racquet-experiments/

Re: Phil Bester

Wondered what happened - he was on list to play next Challenger in States, but instead is playing Futures in Europe, at least this week in Italy. Won his first match by a solid score over a guy in...

Re: Vasek Pospisil

In the same sense that Benneteau and Granollers are doubles players first and single players second. But I think he will get to 7 or 8 at some point, and settle in around 15 for his peak years.

Re: Phil Bester

He's on the list for the next Challenger in California. Was on it for Napa Valley too, but couldn't make it to qualilies, obviously. He's still fairly young, by today's standards and talented - I'd...

Re: Phil Bester

A win tomorrow will get Bester back to around 480 - he should win over a guy ranked over a thousand and who's had to win three setters to make it to the final. Will be about 350 by year's end,...

Re: Davis Cup

If it's a home tie, go back to Vancouver, go to Toronto or Montreal or Calgary, or someplace new like Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Regina or Saskatoon (or St. John's, Thunder Bay, Victoria, etc.)?

Re: Davis Cup

Vasek has to beat just Gonzalez (or Giraldo) or the doubles - let's be real. Milos isn't losing, unless, heaven forbid, he gets injured.

Gonna be there - gonna be a blast!

Re: Frank Dancevic

Frank should be a little fresher for this autumn than he was last year - last year he didn't play well, didn't seem motivated. Hopefully, he finds some motivation - nice for him at his age especially...

Re: Peter Polansky

Tarou Daniel is a on the rise, and I think Peter is playing as well as he ever has, so it should be a real contest.

Re: Phil Bester

Got a good looking win today, judging from the score, over a player ranked inside the top 400. On his way back to inside the top 300? Got to stay healthy, that's it.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Paire doesn't have a lot of match form going into this, and has been playing on clay, so hopefully all the WTT Frank's played has him sharper and he squeaks this out. How fast are the courts for DC?...

Re: Canadian Players 2

Another sign of the strength of our top players now - all six in singles are playing the ATP 500 event in Washington (and I suspect our top three in doubles as well), and not the 100K challenger in...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Didn't really expect this result - he must be a bit burned out. A great run these last two weeks.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Agree that Frank can beat him, though I'd say Kukushkin is favourite (but only slightly). Really hoping all the tennis he's played lately doesn't catch up with him yet - would love to see him play...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Karlovic must be a bit off - just watching the score occasionally and for Frank to break Ivo at 5-4 to win the first set was a nice gift you'd think. Now up two sets to love, but Frank (more the...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Both of their previous matches have been close, but Karlovic goes into this with a bit better form, I'd say. Yeah, I hope he can get out of his team tennis engagement - it might pay $1000 a week, or...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Quite sure he gets main draw first round prize money and points (27 000 pounds and 10 points) and not Q2 dough and points (13 5000 pounds and 8 points). Why wouldn't that be the case?

Re: Frank Dancevic

Okay, I see what you mean now. I got confused with 'draw' when it was explained above (was thinking tennis drawsheet, draw). So he's fifty-fifty to get in now. In smaller tournaments they don't draw...

Re: Frank Dancevic

Smyczek losing now - against a fellow American at that. He likely knows he's in regardless, and that would leave Frank out by one spot. Still time for someone else to withdraw, however.

Re: Frank Dancevic

Looked like the comeback to beat all comebacks was on - coming from love 40, 1-5 on own serve, to 4-5, love 30 on Wang's serve, but then Wang rattled off four straight points. Both players went on...
