Re: Clay God Murray Beats Robredo 7-5 6-1

In previous matches on the clay, Murray has had serious problems returning Stan's kick serve on the advantage side; and when he did get his return in play, Stan was in total control of the point....

Re: WWW Murray vs Monaco

Monaco took a set off Murray in Miami 4-6 6-3 6-2. If Murray serves as poorly as he did in his last two matches in Monte-Carlo then Monaco might fancy his chances. But I suspect Murray will be...

Re: MC QF Murray defeated Davydenko 7-6(1), 6-4

I think I've watched every one of the Murray/Davydenko contests and there is a clear pattern emerging regardless of the surface they are played on. Team Murray clearly believe that by throwing in a...

Re: MC QF Murray defeated Davydenko 7-6(1), 6-4

I think you need to take into consideration the first serve percentages and indeed the unreturned serves count. Murray was ahead on points won by unreturned serves but his woeful serving, combined...

Re: Monte Carlo R2: Murray sees off Hanescu 6-3 6-2

Did enough to win but needs more penetration on the first serve, and indeed 2nd too, and the forehand looked vulnerable. Drop shots, passing shots, volleys and lobs were fine. Would like to see him...

Re: So, how will Murray perform on clay in 2009?

I've noticed that you don't think much of Murray on clay. I'm not sure if you watched many of his matches last year on the clay but there were enough signs to suggest he was making progress and that...

Re: Murray, the REAL Spartan, crushes Djokovic 6-2 7-5 to win his third Masters title

The style of play that Murray has been moving towards on the clay is somewhat different to the approach he has tended to adopt on hardcourt. Corretja appears to have persuaded Murray to play a more...

Re: Miami SF: A. Murray def. Del Potro 6-1 5-7 6-2

I'd agree with this analysis and I have to say I was surprised by how competitive JMDP was. When he got his first serve in play he tended to dominate the play and Murray was left hoping for an error....

Re: Why the pressure is on Murray

I agree that Murray is in a slightly tricky position in that he is the favourite because of the quality of his tennis right now, but having never won a Slam, and having failed to overcome his nerves...

Re: Which One Of These Young Starlets Can Be In The Top 10 This Time Next Year?

Must admit that I wouldn't have predicted any to be inside top 20.

Re: Nadal won´t take part in the TMC

Sensible decision. Don't care if he is injured or not. No way should he be taking risks for an event that is practically meaningless for him.

Re: Roger Federer: the Ego has Landed Again

Actually I tend to agree with Roger's assessment though his timing was slightly off, having just lost fairly emphatically to Murray. The thing to note about Murray's game is that it can change...

Re: Willy Canas def Robredo 7-6(5) 6-1

Robredo was absolutely shocking. That second set was a disgrace.

Re: Which group of 4 youngsters has more potential and why?

Thing about Baghdatis is that he has shown nothing at Masters level yet has been the star performer at Slam level with a final and a semi and plenty of big wins on the way: Ljubicic, Roddick and...

Re: Nole outguns Nadal 6-3 6-4, onto Miami SF

I'm struggling to see which players might get to that level - Djokovic, Murray (perhaps - if he ever gets fit enough), Gasquet (interesting to see how he does this year on the clay), then you are...

Re: Nole vs Muzza SF rematch. Who wins?

Murray is going to have to raise his game. The signs were good during the brief action against Roddick but much of his tennis this year has been competent rather than inspired. While he has beaten...

Re: Which group of 4 youngsters has more potential and why?

Respect to anyone who chose Group B during the early stages of this thread. I confidently went for Group A on the basis that Gasquet would comfortably outperform the rest. What an inspired decision...

Re: Roddick vs Murray?

The matches between these two seem to be decided by who saves the higher percentage of break points (not surprisingly) and who does better on 2nd serve.

Murray appeared out of gas in Memphis...

Re: Oscar Hernandez??

Total respect to Hernandez and Di Mauro for getting into the top 100. Sheer professionalism and a willingness to bore their opponent to death is what has gotten them so far in the game. With career...

Re: Will Federer's Indian Wells/Miami Experience Adversely Affect His Clay Court Season?

I think this match was more disturbing than the defeat in Indian Wells. While Canas played a good match, and kept getting the ball back to a decent length, Roger was in total control midway through...

Re: Cañas def. Federer 7-6(2) 2-6 7-6(5)

Canas was great. Early in the third set I was thinking Canas has nothing with which to hurt Roger, yet just by continuing to get the ball back, by continuing to pull out the odd big serve when he...

Re: Roddick def Ferrer 7-5 6-3

Thought Roddick played well. As for Ferrer very surprised by his display. I had him as a slight favourite going into this match as he had won more points in both of their previous meetings, yet won...

Re: Richard Gasquet

Probably not this year. Must admit I was expecting it to happen last year but he does appear to be on a plateau. The talent is there but given what has happened so far this year, it would be a...

Re: Miami R3: Amer Delic def Nikolay Davydenko 7-6(5) 6-3

Impressed by Delic. Only saw the 2nd set but Delic displayed a lot of talent. Big serves both wide and down the middle. Heavy 2nd serve. Sliced backhand kept low and top spin backhand looked a good...
