Re: USO Final 2011: Superb Djokovic defeats fighter Nadal: 6-2 6-4 6-7 6-1

Gripping match, the most entertaining slam final for at least two years. The highlight reel will be amazing.

Huge respect for Nadal's doggedness. Congratulations to Djokovic.

Re: Paris QF: Federer def. Melzer 6-1 7-6(4)

This is the second insightful post I've seen you make and I am inclined to agree. There is a lot of research out there that seeks to dispel the myth of form and hot streaks, but people find...

Re: Federer Crushes Bagman 6-4, 6-3 and stays no.2

Did Federer say anything about nearly rolling his ankle on set point? He winced, obviously hurt the guy.

Re: Can Nadal be considered the GOAT anymore?

Think before you type. Nadal never winning the US is no different from Sampras never winning the French. Further, if Nadal were to win RG for 10 years straight, he would have 18 grand slams and...

Re: Is Federer done? (seriously)

Federer has no mental fortitude at all. He has never come through in a tight match. Always loses.

Re: Halle Final: L. Hewitt def. R. Federer 3-6 7-6(4) 6-4

Your threshold for what makes an exciting match is so high that the game of tennis must be completely joyless for you 90% of the time.

Re: What was wrong with Soderling mentally?

Soderling's mental fortitude should be self-evident now that he has beaten both Nadal and Federer in a grand slam, ending huge record streaks for both players. Del Potro, likewise, has shown his...

Re: RG QF: Soderling Stuns Federer 3-6 6-3 7-5 6-4

A deserved win for Soderling. Credit to him for having the self-belief to go the distance again. Unbelievable that he's ended 2 huge streaks from the 2 best players of the decade in the same...

Re: It's barely even raining....

It's raining heavily. The umpires hair was soaked to his forehead when he suspended play.

Re: Roland Garros Livescoring & Commentary Thread

Hugely entertaining match up until the rain delay. Soderling's behind the head backhand volley to save SP! Wow!

Re: Miami R2: Federer def. Lapentti 6-3 6-3

pathetic? lol, non-tennis players and their superlatives...

Serve performed well, groundstrokes a bit error-prone but were improving with time not crumbling.

Re: The countdown to most #1 record thread

You're doing a great job wackykid, thanks man!

I hope Federer plays Monte-Carlo for an extra shot at 1000 ranking points. To fall a week or 2 weeks short of Sampras' record would be cruel!

Re: AO Final: Federer def. Murray 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(11)

The atmosphere in Rod Laver Arena was electric. People were murmuring about the likelihood of a 5 setter when Murray broke back to level at 2-2. I've never seen a player have to hit so many backhands...

Re: If Federer is to lose his #1 ranking...

Not sure, but a decent defense of Madrid and RG will be needed if Fed is to break Sampras' record. If Fed wins the Australian Open though, he earns a 3050 point gap between himself and Djokovic...

Re: Federer's Run At #1

Federer has locked up no. 1 until Madrid, ~14 weeks away, bringing him to 282 weeks. I think defending his top ranking from that point will be Fed's biggest challenge of 2010

Re: 2010 Updated ATP Rankings Thread

Thank you Judio, but just for a bit of context, what tournaments have you placed those dates at? 1 Feb is the end of the Aus Open obviously, but 5 April?

Re: Was there a fix? Vote and discuss

Add to this Fed's net-cord volley whilst facing break point, and Del Potros absolutely huge cross court winner that just clipped the line whilst facing break point.

People who say it was a fix...
