Re: An obscure Andre fact inspired this question

The US Open is held in Queens which is in Long Island. Long Island also had an ATP tournament for quite a long time until it was moved to New Haven recently. In 1998, Pat Rafter won both the US...

Re: Wimbledon Seedings

Not sure if you know the history behind all this.

The major tournaments used to have only 16 seeds. The US, Australian and French seedings followed exactly the rankings, so the top 16 players...

Re: Who is going?

I'm intending to bring some food inside my small backpack - sandwiches, chocolate and bottles of water. I suppose that's OK with security? Or are people forced to buy food from the Wimbledon...

Swiss man becomes GOAT. Layodelayodelay hee hoo!

A short time ago, in a galaxy near near to us...

In a dramatic and unexpected miracle of nature, a Swiss man became the GOAT after running around for about 2 hours on a sandy red clay pit in the...

Re: Surprise Quarter Finalists at the Grand Slams [Since 2000]

Nalbandian played one Futures match on grass before that and lost it.

Re: Surprise Quarter Finalists at the Grand Slams [Since 2000]

2002 Wimbledon - Nalbandian.

As the 28th(?) seed, never won a match won on grass before that, almost of his success before that was on clay, then goes all the way to the final. .

Re: Rank the crowds at the Grand Slams

People in the French crowd shout out a very irritating high pitched sound quite frequently. (It sounds like a taunt of some kind.)

Does anyone know what they are saying? Is there a cultural reason...

Re: Has there ever been a Top 5 that all had won a slam?

On the rankings list of 4th July 2005 (even as recently as that), the top six were:

Federer
Hewitt
Nadal
Roddick
Safin
Agassi

And at No. 9 was Thomas Johansson.

Re: So now who do you have in your RG final??

If Federer were to lose.... then we'd have a big clay event without either Nadal and Federer. The last time that happened (in Hamburg), guess who won the title?

Tommy Robredo!

Re: 2009: MTF Bandwagon Player of the Month for May Robin Söderling)

He should have been on the shortlist for the bandwagon award anyway for sending two bagels to Schuettler at the World Team Cup a couple of weeks ago.

Re: So now who do you have in your RG final??

Soderling vs Roddick will be the ultimate anti-clay disaster.

I think the most logical choice would be Davydenko vs Federer.

Re: RG 4th Rd: (23) Soderling halts (1) Clay-King Rafa 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-4, 7-6(2)

What a match from Soderling.

I deliberately stayed away from MTF after the match.... I was frightened of the online nuclear fallout on this site.....

Re: Who is going?

Thanks for the info.

What if we arrive a bit later, say 8:00-8:30am? Or actually, what is the latest time that we should arrive to be guaranteed of a grounds pass? I don't suppose we'll get in at...

Re: Federico Luzzi is dead

Such a tragedy.

'Fulminant' just means 'happens extremely quickly and causes death quickly'.

Luzzi probably died of an infection, possibly to a lung infection as doctors initially thought it was...

Re: Who will win Rotterdam and the 300 points?

How fast are Rotterdam's courts playing?

Depending on the speed, Karlovic can probably take advantage of the situation as he has the most amount of recent experience in winning titles.
