Re: Wimbledon's Heat Rule: Sexist?

Sure.

Don't they sometimes do that in the Australian Open? Allow for more time in between games so that the players can hydrate more often?

Re: Funny Fotos #8

 I don't know what would be more frustrating for Dimitrov: to be called Mr. Sharapova, to be still referred to as "baby" Federer, or to be confused with Gasquet.

Re: Gala León resigns as Spanish Davis Cup team captain

:)

Henin or Clijsters would make good Belgian DC captains IMO.

Re: Gala León resigns as Spanish Davis Cup team captain

Let's see:

- When Carlos Moya resigned as captain, the Spanish Tennis Federation hired Gala Leon without consulting the players (who were in favor of Ferrero IMO). They didn't even contact the...

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

I usually ignore this poster but calling Becker a nobody is beyond stupid.

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

Becker's popularity was huge in Germany when he conquered his first Wimbledon title at the age of 17, but I do think that Steffi Graff is more respected.

Do you actually have something to say...

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

I can take a funny joke.

You're not funny, grandma. Now go on, throw some insults and pretend that you're hilarious because that seems to be your style.

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

Learn how to tell a joke. :)

How is "Becker is a nobody" a good joke? Unless the joke is on you of course.
Besides, the line "it's a joke" is too often - generally speaking - used to try and get...

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

Federer is a bit more careful in his words if you read the original article.
He warns about talking too much and he underlines that this also applies to him because he's not quite sure what Becker...

Re: Federer corrects Becker:"You have no idea"

Becker has a book out and IMO, the only reason he said those "controversial" things was to try and draw attention to his book.

Here's the original article, by the way:
Berner Zeitung - Ach, Boris...

Re: Del Potro to have surgery again!

Nice to get such an extensive explanation for him.

I do hope that he manages to find a way back.

Re: At his peak, is Wawrinka a better offensive player than the Big 4?

This reminds me of the Safin-days here on MTF and the numerous amount of "nobody can beat Safin at peak" threads and comments.

Re: Dustin Brown greeted by neo-Nazi after practice session at Stuttgart

Look at this pamphlet "Der Untermensch" (translated)

Der Untermensch (subhuman) (http://www.holocaustresearchproject.org/holoprelude/deruntermensch.html)

Listen to a speech by Joseph Goebbels and...

Re: Dustin Brown greeted by neo-Nazi after practice session at Stuttgart

The Nazis viewed the Jewish people (as well as many others in the world) as part of the "Untermenschen" and this can be translated as "inferior people" or "subhumans".

Re: Dustin Brown greeted by neo-Nazi after practice session at Stuttgart

It wasn't only about Jews either. Their entire notion on Untermenschen (which isn't a concept invented by nazis by they certainly applied it) was broader than that.

Edit: posted that at the same...

Re: Becker: ''Open secret in tennis that Federer and Djokovic dislike one another''

Exactly.

Yes, a lot of people in Germany did sort of fall in love with a 17-year old but his popularity didn't diminish because he got older. It diminished because of some of the stupid things he...

Re: Nadal: "I did not watch [The RG final]; I was practicing"

How do you know that he hasn't done that via text message or something? :)
They regularly train together and Rafa has often said that he gets along with Stan quite well or does it only count when you...

Re: Becker: ''Open secret in tennis that Federer and Djokovic dislike one another''

There's a lot of nostalgia involved in this IMO.

Former players who'd like to think that things were that much better in their time.

Re: Courier: umpires should stop giving penalties on critical points

Story-telling?

That’s rich, coming from somebody who mentioned slavery, killing a man and even Goering to shut others up.

He has acknowledged quite a few times that he deserves the warnings (although the timing of them re. crucial points was mentioned as well).
He does take too much time and it's not improving just...

Re: Courier: umpires should stop giving penalties on critical points

so in short, the rules aren’t applied as they should be so your the "rules are the rules" argument is void at the moment because it’s too arbitrary, also in non-Nadal matches. :)

Re: Courier: umpires should stop giving penalties on critical points

that’s just the point.

If that really was the case, than Nadal would have gotten a time warning a lot sooner in his latest match and Sock would have gotten at least 1 too. :)
