Re: Who is the best 2 Time Slam Winner of the Past 20 Years?

Safin is not overrated in my opinion. He won two slams, but with memorable wins. That counts a lot in tennis, there is not only achivements.
His battle against Federer in AO 2005 is one of the...

Re: Rank the number one players in the open era by your own preference

Just the ones I really like:
1. Ferrero
2. Safin
3. Djokovic
4. Kafelnikov
5. Nadal
6. Kuerten
7. Rios

I also like Moya, Sampras and Rafter.

Re: Tako Suzuki vs Roger Federer (Japan Open 2006) -- Did anyone tape this match?

Actually, that year Suzuki was injured. If I remember well, Tokyo was his comeback tournament, he had not play at all that year (maybe one tournament?)
I didn't see that match, but as mentionned,...

Re: Paris R3: Gasquet def. Nishikori 7-6(3) 4-1 Ret.

6-0 Gasquet in the H2H now, only 1 set won by Nishikori in all those matchs

Re: Thiemo de Bakker... Finding his way?? Finally...

Thiemo made a decent start of the year, until his final in Bordeaux despite some bad losses right and left. Then he lost the plot.
But with those two weeks, he's doing a pretty decent year.
When I...

Re: Thiemo de Bakker cheering thread

Thiemo in a SF of a challenger this week. Deserved to be mention as he had a bad second part of the year.
I guess the fresh air of Las Vegas is good for his motivation ;)

Re: Stockholm SF: Jack Sock demolishes Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2

To be honest, Gasquet was mostly awful and unmotivated today. At the beginning of the match, I was even wondering if he was injured
Gasquet also tanks at 1-3 down in the second set.

That second set of Benoit from 2-0 to 2-6 :spit:
Good entertainment.

Re: CH Mohammedia R1: Munar def. [8] De Bakker 6-3 7-6(4) (Worst MP ever!)

Thiemo
Shameful result and behavior
Why on earth going until Morocco to do that? :o

Re: Beijing R1: Troicki def. [5] Raonic 6-4 6-4

Raonic was beyond awful in this match, especially in the first set.
Troicki on the other was ok, he did well in return and with the BH. His FH though would need to be more reliable.

Re: Best backhand ever?

I disagree on Nalbandian. Of course he had a wondeful backhand, that's not the question. But I invite you to rewatch some of his matches against Safin. You'll see that Safin was the dominating player...

Re: Name matches were Federer didn't get the majority of crowd support!

Against Kuerten in the third round of the FO in 2004. He was only at the beginning of his domination (was not loved as he is now by the french crowd), and I think that the french crowd was even more...

Re: Major titles by age tell an interesting story

Until now Federer only won two GSs after 28, Nadal none and it does not look good for him.

Considering his current level, and the lack of young upcoming stars in the next two years, it is...

Re: Which is Federer's worst GS-loss? (in semis or finals)

USO 2009. It's still unbelievable he lost it. Actually it is the only GS final he lost outside Nadal or Djokovic.
Then AO 2009. That fifth set was a pity, and he had so many opportunities in the...

Re: US Open SF: Djokovic def. Cilic 6-0 6-1 6-2

First time of his career that Novak reachs the final of each Slam during the same season. Federer was the last to achieve it in 2009 (2 wins, 2 losses). He also did it in 2006 and 2007.

Re: Let's settle it once and for all MTF. Is Federer playing the best tennis of his l

Probably not, but in my opinion he's playing this year at his best level since 2007.

2004-2006 : his absolute peak, just unplayable except Nadal on clay, or some peak Safin/Nalbandian. 10/10....

Re: If Nadal had beaten Tsonga in AO 08 SF, would he have beaten Djokovic?

I voted "no" but with a doubt.

Of course the level of Novak during this tournament was superior to the level of Rafa.

But I don't know if some of you remember this, at the end of the fourth...

Re: Montreal R3: [Q] Gulbis def. [Q] Young 6-4 6-4

Well deserved run for him after this tough year, could be a player to avoid in the first rounds of USO...

To be fair, Michon is way better than his ranking shows, he had a win at the FO in 2014

Re: Points that will haunt players forever

Very good one. Llodra missed the chance of his life! Bercy was damn fast that year, he would've been the favorite against Monfils considering his form that week.

Though I think the loss he'll...
