Re: Why the improvement in Murray's serve?

He seems to have rediscovered his most damaging serve - the flat one out wide to the ad court. He used to go for this a lot but it kind of disappeared over the last year or so.

Re: Madrid Final: Murray def Nadal 6-3 6-2

Before this week he had never beaten a top 8 player on clay. This week he beat 3 in a row.

Re: Madrid SF: [2] Murray def. [4] Nishikori 6-3 6-4

Great win for Murray. Whatever people say Nishikori had to be favourite going in with it being on clay and after that beatdown in London. This is as consistently good as he's looked on clay for a...

Re: Raonic undergoing surgery to repair a nerve in his right foot.

Sky Sports commentators yesterday said that he said he's had this issue for like 7 years now. Hope this sorts it out.

Re: Madrid: Worst crowd in tennis?

It's not really the crowd's fault but I hate those weird steel compartments that make up the first 5 rows of the seating.

Re: Madrid QF: (2)Andy Murray def. (5)Milos Raonic 6-4 7-5

Good effort from Raonic with the injury but Murray looks unusually solid on clay this year

Re: Miami QF: [22] Isner def. [4] Nishikori, 6-4 6-3

Isn't it more to do with the hotter air rather than the hotter surface? i.e. as the air is hotter the gas expands as is therefore less dense so the ball moves faster. Like playing at altitude

Re: Miami QF: [22] Isner def. [4] Nishikori, 6-4 6-3

Surprising scoreline, if not result. Nishikori's ROS is overrated. He's an aggressive returner of weak serves rather than a great returner.

Re: Only 1 Slam Final + 0 titles above 500 for the 89-92 age group

Even Murray when he was 23 had 4 Masters 1000 titles and 2 slam finals

Re: Berdych has lost his last 10 semifinals of mandatory events

Re: Andy '501' Murray def Dominic Thiem 3-6, 6-3, 6-1

It's also just random variation. Most players are better at either serving or returning. Every so often 2 or 3 top players will come along at the same time with the same preference.

Re: Andy '501' Murray def Dominic Thiem 3-6, 6-3, 6-1

Good start from Thiem but Murray was too solid in the end. That returning game at 2-1 in set 3 was impressive (apart from 2 shocking backhands into the net)

Rafatards at US Open having a dig with the bronze and silver medals

Re: WWW Miami QF: John Isner vs Kei Nishikori

The most interesting QF. I have to say Nishikori has never stood out to me as a particularly great returner of first serves so I'll be interested to see how he fares against Isner's 2 first serves.

Re: Miami R4: [22] Isner def. [5] Raonic, 6-7(3) 7-6(6) 7-6(5)

Brilliant. The longest and most tiring game of paper, scissors, stone in history. I want these two to play at a slam (outside US Open).
Were there any breaks?

Re: Miami R4: Murray 500 def Anderson 6-4 3-6-6-3

Re: Miami R4: Murray 500 def Anderson 6-4 3-6-6-3

Yeah, he should have made 4 aces in a row really

Re: WWW ? Miami R4: [5] Raonic vs [22] Isner

Isner probably has a better serve but Raonic has a better "ground game" for what it's worth
