Re: Battle of 5: Who is going to be number 1 at the end of 2017?

If Federer returns to the top form shown this year, he's got a chance. Otherwise, not really.

Re: Wimbledon QF: [7] Cilic def. {16] Muller 3-6 7-6(6) 7-5 5-7 6-1

Agreed, Muller needed this in four and he could have had it. Still, what a great effort, never though I'd get to see this. Now on to the US Open, maybe another QF there? Go Gilles!

I recall people here being very optimistic about Chung's chances, was it?, in Barcelona and Nadal came out on top without too much hassle. Khachanov has that performance against Fed to build on, but...

Re: Queens R2: Muller def. Tsonga 6-4 6-4

So, anyone going to say it? Is the undefeated grass-courter a dark horse for something good at Wimbledon? :D

Gilles reaching a final on clay! Who'da thunk it?...

Gilles reaching a final on clay! Who'da thunk it?

I don't really see how he can beat PCB though.

Re: WWW Barcelona QF: Chung v Nadal

Funny, the odds for Nadal winning are in the 1.0x range, but here it's up for grabs :D

Should be an interesting match, regardless.

Re: Australian Open SF: (17)Roger Federer def. (4)Stan Wawrinka 7-5 6-3 1-6 4-6 6-3

After Wawrinka missed (UEs) the two break opportunities he had in different service games in the fifth, Federer pounced at the first chance to take in five what he probably should have finished in...

Re: AO R2: [9]Nadal def. Baghdatis 6-3 6-1 6-3

Nadal had five love service games (out of thirteen). The rest all went up to at least 30. Although I only watched the first set, that serve has got me worried.

Re: AO 1R: Dolgopolov d. Coric, 6–3, 6–4, 3–6, 7–6(7)

Coric did so well to save match point at 5-6* in the tie-break, then even went up 7*-6, rushed the point and hit an unforced error, followed by a double fault.

Re: Sydney Final: Muller def. Evans 7-6(5) 6-2 finally wins maiden ATP title!

It lacked suspense in the second set, but the first set was solid from both, with good shots and a few impressive rallies. Evans's reaction on the two set-points faced in the first was great, as was...

Re: Brisbane SF: Kokkinakis/Thompson df Roger-Vasselin-Nestor 6-3, 6-1

At least Benneteau's got quite a few of those, right?

Re: Brisbane SF: Kokkinakis/Thompson df Roger-Vasselin-Nestor 6-3, 6-1

Time for Muller to win his first ATP title. Again.

Re: Shanghai R2: Viktor Troicki def. [4] Rafael Nadal 6-3 7-6(3)

Didn't watch, but I would see no reason for an immediate betterment of his game in just four days.

Re: Beijing QF Dimitrov def. [2] Nadal 6-2 6-4

In spite of Dimitrov's excellent defending, which deserves some praise, Nadal's woefulness stood out even more.

The first set was a mess from both, with Dimitrov finally pulling away in the end...

Re: Olympics Bronze match: [4] Kei Nishikori def. [3] Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-7(1), 6-3

Some of the gloating here, geeze.

Ultimately not too bad from Nadal, who was unsure whether he could play the Olympics or not a week ago. He fared reasonably well in some very long matches, but...

Re: Olympics 2016 | Rio

I didn't think Mergea/Tecau would come back after that second set and just went to bed to spare my nerves. So glad they did, though, especially with that crowd against them! Some of the angles and...

Maybe? :p

It's still very exciting, but the home team have to be the favourites.

Re: Olympics R1: Nadal - Delbonis 6-2 6-1

Not to mention that DelPo's backhand would have a lot more work to do against a reasonably in form Nadal. But long ways to go there for both of them.

Re: Gilles Muller named Luxembourg flag bearer for the olympic opening ceremony

So awesome for him! Now he can add to Luxembourg's historic count of two olympic medals.

Re: Toronto

Mergea/Tecau beat Bryan/Bryan 6-3, 6-3 in a dominant performance. Commentators hyping them up for the Olympics, of course. Would be something if they won this tournament first, though!

Re: The match that turned you into a fan

Safin - Federer AO '05. What scintillating stuff. I was skiing somewhere and kept dropping by the lodge, couldn't help noticing some people watching the match. And sure enough, I knew Federer was the...

Re: Newport 2016 F: [2] Karlovic d. [3] Muller 6-7(2) 7-6(5) 7-6(12) (Saves 3 MPs)

What a bloody nightmare! Gilles!! :(

That chance at 11-10 in the tie-break. That clip of the net for Karlovic at 5-5 in the TB, was it? Some things, man, some things...
