Re: Wilander and the other commentator just called Del Potro "Frankenstein"?

He's so wrong. This is the right literary monster comparison:

Re: US Open SF: [28] Anderson def. [12] Carreno-Busta 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4

I'm sure Anderson's a hard worker and a decent guy, but my god, but he has the charisma of a cardboard box and his game is about as exciting a trip to the DMV. And I have a feeling we're in for more...

Re: US Open R1: [3] R. Federer def. F. Tiafoe 4-6 6-2 6-1 1-6 6-4

That was atrocious. I'm not impressed with Tiafoe. I don't know what to think of Federer's performance.

Re: Federer still dealing with back issues - Cahill reports

And that's sort of why I'd be surprised if he played injured. He doesn't need to prove anything else; it might actually detract from his year more if he made it to the 4th round and got routined by...

Re: Federer still dealing with back issues - Cahill reports

Sure, but if his back is a real problem, does he actually have a chance at winning this? If he's only capable of playing at the level he was playing in the second set of the Montreal final, he's got...

Re: Federer still dealing with back issues - Cahill reports

It's hard to imagine Federer playing the tournament if his back really is a problem. Why would he play if he thought he wasn't fit to win the tournament? And why would he risk worsening his back...

Re: US Open Seedings

I'm sure that if the USTA could have found any way to justify bending the existing rules to move Federer into the other half, it would have.

And as frustrated as I am with the way this whole thing...

Re: Murray out of US Open

Irritating that he would wait until after the draw came out to withdraw, knowing how big an effect his presence would have on the draw (in terms of seedings).

I don't understand why the rules...

Re: Murray's observation on journalist's 'casual sexism'

Call me masochistic, but here it goes:

I'm a female poster, and I think trying to compare male and female players is not only illogical, but condescending. There's nothing empowering about...

Re: Why US media keep mixing and comparing Men's and Women's tennis ?

What else could possibly be meant by the statement, "Get some of your knuckles off the fucking ground and stand up straight, Neanderthals"?

I have no idea what level male player Serena could...

Re: Why US media keep mixing and comparing Men's and Women's tennis ?

So if you disagree with trying to compare men and women in the GOAT debate, you're a sexist neanderthal? This is exactly the attitude that drives people to the opposite (and also wrong) extremes.

Re: Hall of famers excluding the big 4 among the men

If there's a universe where Roddick gets in with one slam and Stan doesn't get in with three (beating the no. 1 player in the world each time), I don't want to live in it.

Re: Murray's observation on journalist's 'casual sexism'

Exactly. He's a male player, they're talking about men's tennis--of course it's implied that Querrey's the first male American player to reach the semis.

Do you think Serena Williams would feel...

Re: When both players think conditions are unplayable

I agree. It's entirely possible that there are significant problems with the conditions of the courts this year. But players do sometimes sustain terrible injuries that have nothing to do with the...

Re: McEnroe falls into Garcia-Navarro's trap

Speaking of Justine Henin, does anyone think this same controversy would exist if it were she who had just won her 23rd Grand Slam title? Would the media (who, at least here in the U.S., always cast...

Re: Agassi confirmed to coach Djokovic (Sky Sports Italia)

I guess it makes some sense as they're both a couple of flakes. But I'm highly skeptical that it will work out.

Re: Olympics R1: Del Potro def [1] Djokovic 7-6(4) 7-6(2)

Delpo :yeah:
Best result in a disappointing year. Although I have to admit Djokovic looked so upset I felt a tinge sorry for him for probably the first time.

Re: How tall do you need to be have a great serve?

Tipsarevic also deserves a mention. He's 5'9" (175cm) and averaged 7 aces per match (68th on overall ace count).

Yeah, this is big disappointment. I hope they'll stream the other clay Masters.

Re: Djokovic pulled a Tsonga in the press conference when asked about equal prize mon

What's smug and arrogant is telling people that equal pay is the right thing to do without giving any substantive justification for it. Is it really progressive to guarantee women the same pay as...
