Re: Poll: Is career grand slam an over rated achievement?

Before 1968, believe it or not, professionals weren't allowed to compete at the Slams. Before 1983, the best professional players did not go Australia...believe it or not.

Re: Poll: Is career grand slam an over rated achievement?

I'm glad someone asked.

When considering Agassi, Federer, and Nadal, no, it's not overrated. Not by a long way. It's actually HUGE.

When considering that 3 were played on grass against mostly...

Re: The Federer walked off court after match point

How trite of Jon "Hater" Wertheim to attack The Federer.

:haha:

Re: Whole GOAT thing is irrelevant - Tennis is not swimming or 100m running

You will. They will be started by Federer fans.

Re: Should the GOAT argument be only a question of numbers?

Roger won his first slam in 2003. Rafa started beating Roger in 2004 when he was a bitty little kid (if you thought that that was on clay, you'd be wrong; Miami hard courts).

Everyone keeps track of...

Re: Should the GOAT argument be only a question of numbers?

I thought so, until this kid Rafael Nadal came along. He owns Roger in every way conceivable. Now he's got the career slam. That was huge. That was necessary. I don't think he'll get to 16 (but he...

Re: Nadal is not GOAT -- yet

Roger Federer is already the Terry Bradshaw of tennis.

Re: Nadal making comparations between Novak's and Roger's behaviour?

You're right. It's hard for the 7 or 8 time Sportsmanship Award winner to show good sportsmanship.

Re: Nadal making comparations between Novak's and Roger's behaviour?

Maybe he appreciated Nole walking over to him to congratulate him. You know, after crushing defeats, Roger walks off court as soon as possible. Roger wouldn't have waited that eternity for Rafa to...

Re: Should USO be stripped of Grand Slam Status?

Jesus, how many threads do I have to post this in? You guys are completely ignorant. It would be cheaper to build another stadium than put a lid on Ashe. What they need is loads of cash money to buy...

Re: The Rain Haters Thread!!! (Weather Updates/Complaining)

The Brits are really thumping their chests now that Wimby was spared two years in a row. When they get hammered in the first week like always, they'll find out how useful their one roof is. They...

Re: The Rain Haters Thread!!! (Weather Updates/Complaining)

Ignorant. It would be cheaper to build a new stadium than put a roof on Ashe. It's going to take large cash money to buy land and build a new stadium. That's what they are trying to work out.

Re: Should USO be stripped of Grand Slam Status?

Yeah, we should outsource the US Open to India.

Re: When a semi-final was like a final.

Every sport with a "bracket" is susceptible to this. For years, the AFC (NFL) Championship game was the "real" Super Bowl. Then it shifted to the NFC Championship game. This accounts for all the...

Re: What do you think "Super Saturday" or "Stupid Saturday"?

My bad. No, you weren't whining. Seems I should have just made to posts since that final statement wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the whiny whiners.

Re: What do you think "Super Saturday" or "Stupid Saturday"?

Huh? Roger won it 5 times in a row in "these days."

People want to dismiss the USO and say RG is the toughest slam to win, but I noticed no one is wishing that RG change it's format to make it...

Re: Federer and Anacone analysis

McEnroe mentioned several times that Rog was standing too far back. That's not anything he'd learn from Annacone. That's an adjustment Roger made. I didn't learn anything about Annacone's influence...

Re: What do you think "Super Saturday" or "Stupid Saturday"?

It is what it is, Jules. Sampras dealt with it nicely, Fed dealt with it nicely.

I just can't wait for there to be a 70-68 5th set in the semis of Wimby so I can start a thread called "Super...

Re: Was Federer-Djokovic the best match so far in 2010?

Yes, I give it the nod over Verdasco-Ferrer because of the stakes and the fact that Nole sleighed his demons. Had he choked, which is what most people expected, and Roger won, then I would say no....

Re: The Federer walked off court after match point

It's not. I never implied it was. It's like he walked right off the court after match point and went to his chair instead of meeting Nole at the net like everyone else.

Re: The Federer walked off court after match point

It's merely proportionate to Fedtard ejaculate. Nothing special at all.
