Re: davydenko: ''federer and nadal have no life''

I'd venture a guess that he's being asked all the time about the lack of recognition from the media, fans, sponsors, etc. You know the sports press and their tendency to get monothematic. It sounds...

Re: davydenko: ''federer and nadal have no life''

Seriously. Kolya *does not speak English*. Obviously he meant something along the lines of "I *would not* cry *if* I won, etc.". I'm 99.99% certain that he's perfectly aware he's never won a slam....

Re: 10th anniversary of Lapentti's career-high ranking (#6)

I read an old article the other day that suggested he could have done better if he didn't have such a taste for "partying". I'm suspicious of that kind of reporting (seems like too easy an...

Re: 2009: MTF Top 10 Favourite Players. Retired Players Only

1) Guga
2) Noah
3) Goran
4) Meligeni
5) Borg

By the end of next year this list will have N. Lapentti as my n.2. Just stating it for the record in case I'm not allowed to change my list.

Re: Guayaquil (CH) F: N.Lapentti def. Giraldo 6-2 2-6 7-6(4)

Oh, wow. Wow. And now I shall restrain myself, lest I get spazzy here. :p Thanks for posting that picture. :yeah:

It must be the genes. My theory is that instead of wrinkles, he acquired a darker...

Re: Guayaquil (CH) F: N.Lapentti def. Giraldo 6-2 2-6 7-6(4)

I think he's even more attractive now than he was in his early 20s.

Maybe if he has some good results next year, he'll decide to stay. ;) Either way, I just hope he does have some good...

Re: Guayaquil (CH) F: N.Lapentti def. Giraldo 6-2 2-6 7-6(4)

That win was amazing, so glad there was a stream and I got to see it. It was all typical Nico style. I wish he'd torture us a bit less, but I guess he likes his victories as sweet as possible....

Re: Paris Masters Final: Djokovic outclasses Monfils, almost 6-2 5-7 7-6(3)

Happy for Nole. Gaël is such a fighter, but his game is just not up there.

I didn't see anything wrong with the crowd's behaviour. They were loud. There was no booing as far as I could tell....

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

Well, yes, his season was pretty bad for the most part. But I think the way he turned it around totally made up for it.

You have to remember that he's 33. And challengers are tougher than they look:...

Is this where you guys are watching? http://elastillero.tv/ ?

I've looked through the thread, but it wasn't clear.

Re: 2009 Fall Hardcourt Thread

Well, it was a tough season for him, adapting to his new status, and that big disappointment at Davis Cup, which didn't help either. But it was great to see him pick it up in the second half of the...

Re: Paris R2: Simon def. Ljubicic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4)

Oh, well. It only took me a few seconds. ;)

I know, but a lot of them are really young, so there's hope. :p But yeah, "Simon is bad for tennis" has become a like a reflex. People keep parroting...

Re: Paris R2: Simon def. Ljubicic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4)

"Gillou" is the common nickname for "Gilles" in French. It's not his "player nickname".

Re: Why is it gay men love tennis!

Maybe you're getting that impression because you're active in a tennis forum, and tennis being an individual sport, people tend to pick and choose their favourites without regard to local/national...

Re: Paris R2: Simon def. Ljubicic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4)

I don't think Simon is a tactical genius. "Genius" is a word I'd rather not use lightly. But people who actually pay attention to his game note time and time again that he can be tactically very...

Re: Paris R2: Simon def. Ljubicic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4)

I think maybe you could cut him slack? He had a tough year confidence-wise. He was all over the place mentally, and only recently started to get his mojo back. He's known for his fighting spirit, so...

Re: TSONGA playing too much in 09? [51-18 + 36-22= 127 matches& counting]

This. I am loving the patronizing tone here. The very idea that a player would not understand the points system is just absurd.
