Re: Roger Federer possesses the Serve of Giants - but he's not a serve bot

Odd. The opinion I've seen from most is that the man is bigger than his game. Great game, better person. Cannot say I agree with the assessment of him lacking class.

Re: Nishkori was better off to lose today.

Has Nadal dropped? Ah. I see, Murray dropped from 3 to 5 with Kai up there still.

Re: Roger Federer possesses the Serve of Giants - but he's not a serve bot

He's a Dull fan.

Personally I'm amused by a system that argues for the duality of class and the serve. Isn't tennis supposed to have the gentility of skill and precision inherent in the...

Re: Nishkori was better off to lose today.

IMO, Nishi would never say that losing benefitted him. If he lost and played well, maybe I could see that, but he did not. If he lost to an opponent who played a fantastic match, I could see that as...

Re: Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

Obviously Nishikori's begun his decline phase rendering him vulnerable to all kinds of players. Including the "weak era".

Re: What makes a vulture?

You have to actually win to be a Vulture. Better a vulture than his prey.

Re: Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

Pretty sure that's exactly what this result means.

Re: Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

What's to dislike? At least he's a *successful* vulture who can beat top 10 players.

Unlike Dull.

Re: Dubai [F]: Federer def. Djokovic 6-3 7-5

We discovered that many people on this forum do not like Federer, and those people had quite a bit to say about how this win was irrelevant. For 5 hundred posts.

Edit: Nice badrep routinos!

Re: Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

Amazing. Ferrer is just one away from the all-time slamless record of 25 titles. Can he get one more to tie?

Clearly old balls > new balls.

Re: ~~~~ Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships ~~~~ Roger gets title number seven!

Same. Had to work to catch up (projects, etc).

Is he the oldest man to beat a number 1?

Connors never beat Lendl after 1984.

Connors beat McEnroe twice after 1984, but in 1987, after McEnroe had...

Re: Federer : The Mother Of All Quests : 20 Slams And 100 Titles.

Indeed. I'm stunned. 2 titles already this year.

I believe he passes Agassi for titles after 30.

Re: Dubai [F]: Federer def. Djokovic 6-3 7-5

I can't speak for others but this was not an expected result. I expected a Fed loss in Straights.

Re: Which of the following retired players could make the best comeback?

Philippoussis is 2 years older than Haas. Unlikely. I really think it's Roddick.

Re: You think Federer and Djokovic will dominate the 90-94 generation in 2020?

He's further behind Lendl at equivalent age points, let alone Connors. Lendl had 1043 at the same age as Federer is now. Fed has 1002, so he's about 40 wins behind.

Would need 69 for the rest of...

Re: You think Federer and Djokovic will dominate the 90-94 generation in 2020?

Connors is still 45 weeks ahead of Federer in the top 3. 125 weeks ahead of Federer in the top 4. 104 weeks ahead of Federer in the top 5. 151 weeks in the top 10, and 142 weeks consecutively....

Re: You think Federer and Djokovic will dominate the 90-94 generation in 2020?

I'm reluctant as a Fedfan and given his recent poor performance at the AO to extrapolate a high ranking past Wimbledon of this year. Had he reached a SF at the AO, I would feel differently.

If he...

Re: You think Federer and Djokovic will dominate the 90-94 generation in 2020?

I did a post on this awhile back, comparing this generation with a previous weak generation born in the second half of the 40s. Answer, is that a generation that never reached number 1 hit it's peak...
