Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Tough draw at Madrid qualies - if he gets past Viola in R1 he plays the winner of Pospisil/Tipsarevic. May need to wait a little longer to crack the top 100...

Re: Alex Bolt

You'd have to think it's an injury withdrawal - I'm pretty sure the FO qualifying deadline is next week, and not playing this week would make him borderline for direct entry. Given his most recent...

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Good point - it's easy sitting where we are to forget how important financial security is for the lower ranked guys. Now he just has to win the matches he should - which he has had some trouble doing...

Re: Djokovic may gain slams after he retires

The OP is either amazingly dense or the best troll on the site. I'm thinking the latter despite his protests to the contrary.

Re: Bucharest R2: Karlovic def. Coric 3-6, 6-3, 6-4

Not the biggest surprise this - young player dealing with the pressure of Karlovic's serve (even if it is clay).

Re: Barcelona R2: Estrella Burgos def. (4) Cilic 6-4 6-4

Estrella campaigning hard for a spot in Yoda's "real tennis player" list - sits at 51 in the live rankings

Re: CH Guadalajara R1: Londero def. (3) Harrison 7-6(2) 6-3

Harrison seems to have lost his way again after a bright start to the year. Interesting that he isn't going for the USTA French Open wildcard and choosing to play Mexican Challengers instead - any...

Re: Who is more talented, Lamine Ouahab, Daniel Garza or Julio Peralta?

In all seriousness it's probably Ouahab. Would love for him and/or Peralta to decide they care and have an Estrella-like run

Re: French Open Wildcard

Pretty much this.

The "best in the lead-up tournaments" formula looks like a rare example of consensus in this sub-forum...

Re: Who is more talented, Lamine Ouahab, Daniel Garza or Julio Peralta?

Since none of them are top 50 they're obviously not real tennis players...

Re: Was 2010 the lowest level of competiton ever?

This should be posted in every single Fed/Nadal/Djokovic thread on this forum.

Re: French Open Wildcard

I assume you mean on clay ;).

I'm against the reciprocal wildcard on principle (actually, I'm not really a fan of wildcards at Slams at all), but given we have it, I like the idea of whoever gets...

Re: French Open Wildcard

Kokkinakis is out in front by a mile - the only way he doesn't get it is if he sneaks into the main draw directly.

Currently between Kubler and Bolt for the backup spot, but Bolt is doing himself no...

Re: Aussies on the red stuff...

I'd also have liked to see Ducky playing tour qualies (for which the deadline is only 3 weeks, so his recent rankings rises would have given him a high seeding for either Istanbul or Estoril). He has...

Re: Monte Carlo R1: Haider-Maurer def Former Tennis Player Gulbis 6:1 6:0

Horrendous from Gulbis. All AHM needed to do was hit to the forehand.

At one stage in the 2nd set, over 40% of Gulbis' forehands were unforced errors (not sure whether it ended up that way, though I...

Re: The Federer clay record that Nadal might not beat...

Your mistake here was starting a thread that in any way compares Federer and Nadal.

Re: Montecarlo QR1: Gombos def Jaziri 63 63

Jaziri has been awful since his R3 run at AO so not a complete surprise. Istomin will be tricky

Re: Week 17: An-Ning, PR China [Entry List]

Byes in a Challenger? When was this?

Since Duckworth is top seed by some distance, he'll probably lose in R1 to the world no. 500

Re: Week 17: An-Ning, PR China [Entry List]

This could end up being one of the lowest direct entry cutoffs of all time for a CH. I guess this is what happens when you put a clay CH in Asia in the same week as a more lucrative hardcourt CH...

Re: Matthew Ebden

Back to back wins, taking out Kudryavtsev in straight sets. Hopefully the start of a climb back up the rankings

Re: Aceland

I'm also very sad to see it go - it's been one of the few sites to cover lower level tennis of any kind. I hope Marc can find a way to get it up and running again, though unfortunately I don't think...
