Wink Re: If Federer wins USO 2014 without facing Top 10 player?

Sampras won Wimbledon 4 times in a row from 1997-2000. Only in 1999 did he play 2 top ten players. Maybe we should asterisk 3 of those 4 slams.

Re: That's what the increasing of 1R prize money has led to

It's disgusting. These tennis players should just play for free instead of trying to earn money. It's a shame professional tennis players were ever allowed at the Slams. :(

Re: Agassi: "People can say what they want, Nadal is the best"

It's not surprising that a 1 time Wimbledon winner who had as a rival a 7-time Wimbledon winner claims Nadal (a 2 time Wimbledon winner) is greater than Federer ( a 7-time Wimbledon winner).

Re: Is Federer Confusing Even His Fans?

The Sampras era must have been horrible. Look at all his losses against mediocre players in the last years of his career.

Re: the greatest grass court player ever?

Funny to see all those excuses of the nostalgic Sampras fans.

1. Federer has a better record on grass and Wimbledon.

2. Federer beat Sampras on the Centre Court of Wimbledon on fast grass when...

Re: Did Sampras ever choke in big match?

Sampras had a great 5-set record. Most of his grand slam titles were won after surviving 5-setters.
The claims about a stamina problem of Sampras are nonsense.

Sampras wasn't such a bad clay...

Re: Did Sampras ever choke in big match?

In the case of someone with the talent of Sampras it has to be a mental thing when he consistently loses in the early rounds of a slam. What else can it be ?

Re: Did Sampras ever choke in big match?

How do you explain Sampras losing all these first and second rounds at the French Open if he was mentally so strong ?

Re: Federer vs Djokovic. Who is the favourite for the Olympics?

It's just not fair. This Federer guy can't even play tennis and still he has won 8 titles since last years US Open.
Only because of his stinking luck

Re: How impressive is Nadal's 50-29 record vs. rest of top 4?

It is impressive.

Unfortunately for him, tennis has a knock-out system, that means H2H is nice for staticians and nothing more.

In the end it only matters who wins the tournament.

Re: ****************Wimbledon 2012 : Defeats "The Fog" in Rd of 64 *****************

It's so clearly to see that Federer doesn't believe in himself anymore. When that happens you're finished as a top player.

Re: Becker's dig at Lendl

A perfect follow-up question to Becker would be: and how many clay court tournaments did you win, Boris ?

Re: Grass grass grass!!! 2012 Halle cheering thread

I would be happily surprised if Roger even reaches the quarterfinal of Wimbledon this year. He's playing horrific tennis at the moment :o

Re: Tommy Haas on Murray: "He brings on trainer then moves like a cat"

If he had the guts to say this about Nadal it would mean something. Now it only means he's an incredible coward :)

Re: ROLAND GARROS 2012: The Quest for lost Treasure (Battle 6: The Sauron of Serbia)

It's official. There are 2 players completely in Federer's head now.

Re: Wimbledon Final: Djokovic defeats Nadal 6-4 6-1 1-6 6-3

Tough to beat someone when you´ve lost 4 in a row to him. Rafa understands that too now.

Re: Fed's possible draw in Halle (Big, big names)

Federer injured himself in the final of Halle last year and he lost in the quarterfinal at Wimbledon. He wants to make sure this won´t happen again. Smart move, Roger :)

Re: Nadal: after 4 or 5 games I knew I had no chance of beating Kolya in Doha

It´s actually exactly the opposite. It´s Nadal who often gives up in matches when he thinks he can´t win.

Re: Paris SF: Are you kidding me! Monfils d. Federer 7-6, 6-7, 7-6(4)

It´s sad to say this, but Federer has become one of the biggest chokers on the tour. How many matches has he lost this year where he had matchpoints ? 4, maybe 5. And the way he plays those...
