Re: AUS v SWE in Adelaide

Why isnt Tomas Johansson playing?
I thought he was excellent despite losing to Phillipoussis in the 1st round. Mark was on fire and Tomas still could have taken the match with some luck.
Surely he...

Re: Three favourites for each remaining Slam

It says a lot about the state of good grass players when a lot of people are picking a 34 year old who has won Wimbledon once in 17 years (and made the final on only one other occasion) as a top...

Re: Three favourites for each remaining Slam

Why exactly are people not considering Federer at the French? His got a great clay game and the only suspect thing is if he has the stamina to keep going for 2 weeks.

His last 2 years at the French...

Re: Re: Re: Federer is a new Pete Sampras

Woodbridge? Grosjean? Pioline? Rusedski? Why dont you mention Voltchkov?

Courier and Agassi were nothing special on grass. Sampras was undoubtedly a great grass player but he was beatable there, my...

Re: Re: Re: Sampras Slam's Question

Thats where we disagree, I think Sampras had it easy on grass compared to say the 1980s

Re: Re: Re: Three favourites for each remaining Slam

Sampras won USO in 90, 93 from the baseline. He did not begin volleying on hardcourts until far later into his career.

Re: Is Federer going to win a Golden slam this year.

 yep - I had doubts if olympics were included but just the 4 slams is a walk in the park

I got in at $1:1000 odds

Now that he has won AO it is down to 1:$160

Re: Three favourites for each remaining Slam

Federer's game is far more suited to USO surface
then AO surface

RG
1. Ferrero
2. Safin
3. Federer

Wimbledon
1. Federer

Re: Re: Re: Re: Top 100 Fan's Most Hated / Least Liked Players

I dont think thats the reason you "least like" Roger because werent you a fan of Pete?

Pete, the master of raising his game for one break of serve per set and then going back into cruise control.

Re: Re: Re: Top 100 Fan's Most Hated / Least Liked Players

For someone who has for the moment clearly seperated himself as the #1 player and is endlessly being told how talented/great he is I don't think he is arrogant at all.

Q. The opinion seems to...

Re: When/If Agassi Retires

No he wasnt.

Why?
If Andre had won 1 of the first 2 sets there is no gurantee the rest of the sets would play out as they did.

stop contradicting yourself. First you praise how Andre came within a few points of beating Safin and is therefore a force in tennis and potential grand slam winner then you hillariously accuse...

Re: Federer is a new Pete Sampras

Becker was way past his grass court prime by the time Pete came along (watch Becker on grass in 85 - WOW). Courier and Agassi were not good on grass.
Edberg was way past his grass prime.
The only...

Re: When/If Agassi Retires

I realize you are a Agassi fan but if you seriously think Agassi will win another 2 or 3 more slams out of the next 11 then your setting yourself up for a huge dissapointment

Re: When/If Agassi Retires

Competetive, yes but he wont be winning any more.

umm Ferrero beat him in a routine 4 setter. Safin beat him on a surface where Agassi has been invincible.

I sure hope Agassi doesnt hang around...

Re: Seeing Roger's backhand, does anyone still want to play a two-handed one?

The single handed backhand generally required more talent to use hence most of the juniors use the 2 hander.

The advantages of the 1 hander:

- ability to disguise drop shot
- better reach
- more...
