Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Yes, he did. He retweeted something about him having a hotter wife or something to that extent and seemed to derive all the pleasure from it that a high school jock would.

As I said earlier,...

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Interesting point you have there about the "exaggeritis" which was derived from me calling Stakho's tweets a "little unhinged". This is, of course, after he has gotten into a slagging match with a...

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Yes, I do know that they get voted on the Players Council. My point is that if Stakho has his grievances and he feels so strongly about them then he should run for a position in the council during...

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Seven percent is not enough but it's a good start. It's also a lot better than nothing. If Stakhovsky really wants to do something he should get off of twitter, stop slagging off other men's wives...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

How soon we have forgotten about mullets, wigs, Streisand affairs and Image is Everything. ;)

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

Stars are made, not born. If Kim Kardashian can make 85 million dollars a year for doing essentially nothing on television, there is an agent out there who can make something out of the Challenger...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

They got a pretty decent attendance for Beijing Challenger last year when they made it a mixed event and brought in Henin. When Li Na and the Chinese girls started winning, things started to explode...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

I think only 8.8% of your post actually makes sense. You said that there are too many challengers in Asia, I said that only 8.8% of the current challengers are held there, thereby refuting your...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

Any good snake-oil seller could pitch a challenger in Macau and make a lot of money. There's been a lot of interest in the game because of Li Na and what Drewett's been doing in China. If I was...

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

So the L'Equipe writer says that Nadal DIDN'T want to strike to get more money for the lower-ranked players which is why he left the Players Council which was threatening to strike?

:haha: :haha:...

Re: Steps/Berdych routines past Zimonjic/Bozoljac

Tomas is good with Radek because Radek is a smart tactician on the tennis court. Tomas just lets Sexanek lead.

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

No problem tripwires. :) I think they implemented it so that the latter MS1000s were guaranteed to have stars there.

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

Yes, I've been to ATP events in Asia. Considerable growth there.

There are only 8 out of 90 total ATP Challenger events in Asia: http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tournaments/Challenger-Tour.aspx

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

Hey tripwires :) The Bonus Pool is something that the ATP cooked up during the tenure of DeVilliers. It's meant to be some monetary compensation for all of them showing up to the Mandatory MS1000...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

MaxPower: I think the service that Federer and Djokovic use is Priority One stringing and it's 100k a year retainer ++ but that's covered by the lifetime deal with Wilson. Same for Djokovic and Head....

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Feh, credit schmedit. At the end of the day, at least the players are getting paid more and I'm hopeful that this will be the start of better compensation for tennis players.

As for the 'tards...

They're separate organizations but WADA still manages the doping decisions for the ITF under the unified agreement: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympic_games/7874306.stm

WADA has made some...

Re: MTF suggestions to reform the ATP and tennis in general

1. More prize money for players losing in the earlier round of tournaments. Redistribute the money from the MS1000 winners and make it more favorable to the guys who need the money more, in the lower...

Re: Prize money increases in French Open 2012

Good. The first round prize money went up to 18,000 Euros which is a 20% increase over last year's figure. I guess the current ATP council was able to accomplish something after all and nobody had to...

From the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/16/sports/tennis/16iht-tennis16.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

Possibility of a strike at the French Open? I wouldn't mind.

Re: Stepanek "gives" Tipsarevic middle finger instead of a handshake

From now on let's just refer to all net incidents as Czech Handshakes. A lot of Czechs are quite opinionated, forthright and have low tolerance for BS.

That being said, Janko did not deserve this...

Re: Stahovsky: "Courts too slow; Federer doesn't speak up; Nadal openly supports play

I enjoyed it. I think a lot of people enjoyed it. It was pretty compelling and dramatic stuff. Got pretty good ratings too, from what I heard. I think more than 10% of the host country's population...

I said "believe" because I don't know the exact figures for now. This one from Newsweek is old but it says 208 million

Re: Stahovsky: "Courts too slow; Federer doesn't speak up; Nadal openly supports play

Just an examination of the Slam/Player profit issue. I believe that GS tournaments make 200-250 million dollars in revenue, compared to the average ATP tournament.

This is the prize money pool for...
