Re: Young guns Berankis, Dimitrov and Raonic have all achieved the same record...

Somewhat similarly, Greg Rusedski was born and raised in Canada but ended up adopting British citizenship. He had a career high ranking of No. 4.

Re: Bogey men.

Wayne Ferreira gave Sampras a lot of trouble. Sampras leads the head to head, but barely: 7-6.

Re: Best tiebreak ever?

Another remarkable tiebreak was Safin-Federer, Masters Cup 2004. Federer won this tiebreak 20-18.

EDIT: When I first glanced through the thread, I missed the previous mentions of this... oops

Re: Were Sampras and Emmerson considered GOATS when they retired the same way as Fede

The majors were amateur events when Emerson won them. The best players in the world, those who played professionally, were banned from competing in them.

Re: Sampras serves right through Rafter's racquet

I believe this was the first pro match I ever attended!

But from way up in the stands, I didn't realize just what had happened here.

Re: Why Is Marin Cilic So Hated?

Some people just hate palindromes. It threatens their sense of letter order.

Seles had the same problem when she first came on the tour.

Re: Most one-sided match ever

Andre Agassi def. Hyung-Taik Lee 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 at the 2003 Australian Open comes to mind. Lee won the very first game of the match, and then it was over...

Re: Grand slam pairs. Hardest: Wimbledon and French. Easiest: US and Australian Open

It's extraordinary that Roland Garros and Wimbledon have been won back-to-back for the past three years (by Nadal in 2008 & 2010; by Federer in 2009). After Borg, no one was able to accomplish this...

Re: U.S. Open Weather Update: Wind + Rain

It's not raining in NYC (my neighborhood, at least) right now, but it certainly looks like it could. However, the hour-by-hour forecast is decent -- 15%-25% chance of precipitation during the next...

Re: Will Federer complete the Career "Losing to Nadal in Slam Finals" Slam?

No, not on the men's tour. (It could only have happened against Agassi or Laver, the other two "career GS" holders in the Open Era).

Re: Harrison over Ljubicic 63 67 63 64

Very solid performance from Ryan. He stayed focused on the task at hand, regardless of whether things were going his way at that moment.

Re: Rematches you wanted to see that have never happened

Nalbandian -- Agassi

They only met once, at the 2003 Tennis Masters Cup in Houston. Agassi won 7-6(10), 3-6, 6-4 in a fine baseline battle.

Re: Flashback: Wimbledon 2002 what a tournament

Although I do know what you are getting at, it's not a given that either of those players would have beaten Hewitt that year if they had met him in the tournament. Hewitt at that stage had a 4-2...

Re: Kafelnikov " Kuertens's Peak would beat Nadal"

I would love to see this match-up. Kuerten was great.

Kuerten's liked to finish a point with his great backhand up the line. Many of his rallies were spent patiently crafting opportunities to...

Re: Is the Nadal-Federer rivarly the greatest ever?

In my opinion, the specific win-loss numbers are not as important as the fact that two players meet repeatedly in important events and play competitive matches. There's a cultural/historical aspect...
