My thoughts on Federer's future

Hello, I hardly posted messages in this forum but mainly play the reader/observer role, but as expected, all those "Federer can only win 250/500" / "He is done" threads come up...

My thoughts on...

Re: My conclusion about Roger Federer...

It really does not matter whether he will have a fairy-tale ending by winning 1 more grand slam before retirement, just like Sampras. Agassi also stuck around for 3 more years (2004-2006), after...

Re: Nishikori good enough to become No. 1

Somehow I think his loss against Nadal in Madrid transformed him a bit and made him realise he could beat the top players.

I think he could be the one (other than Djokovic) who could upset Nadal...

Re: So can we finally say with confidence, Fed is done winning slams?

I think we should feel proud of his achievements (6 years older than Djokovic but lost 6-4 in 5th set), even if he would not win any grand slam again.

Assuming he will retire end of 2016, I...

Re: top 10 favorites for RG ?

Despite Nadal's 'decline', for a best-of-5-set matches at RG, it is really difficult to think of players who could beat him, other than Djokovic [I have a gut feeling that Dimitrov will beat Nadal at...

Re: what was the biggest gs upset of all time

If none of the big 4 could win a slam in 2014, is it possible to say it is the biggest GS upset of all time?

* I have a gut feeling that Murray would only fully recover and be a GS contender in...

Nalbandian vs. Berdych vs. Tsonga

I find their careers pretty similar:

* No GS singles title
* Reaching 1 GS final, multiple SF/QF
* Clearly having the ability to beat the top players (occasionally?)
* Consistently ranked in...

Re: Roger and Davis Cup

I think the timing of the QF (just after Miami) would suit Federer. After the QF, he will take few rests off and prepare for clay season.

And hopefully he will win Wimbledon and then lose "early"...

Re: Brisbane 2014 - Hewitt too strong in the final. 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.

Hewitt is just unpredictable. Keep in mind he beat Del Potro at the US Open, so I would not think Federer's defeat today is a bad loss (although his failure to convert the break points remind us of...

Re: Brisbane 2014 - Roger struggles past Chardy 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3, Legend Hewitt next

Re: Brisbane 2014 - New Season Starts! Nieminen beaten 6-4, 6-2, Matosevic up next

It would be great to see the Federer vs. Hewitt final!

BTW, if both Federer and Nadal win their respective tournament this week, would it be the first time in history that they won a tournament...

Re: Predict 2014 year end top 10 players.

I am a bit gutsy to hope Del Potro to have a breakthrough year by winning a slam...

1) Djokovic
2) Del Potro
3) Federer
4) Nadal
5) Murray
6) Wawrinka
7) Tsonga
8) Raonic

Re: Will Nadal ever win a GS again?

I am actually more curious to find out if he would ever perform well at Wimbledon again. If he crashes out early once again in 2014, what would it imply?

Re: Federer's 2014 schedule is out

I actually hope he would skip Miami, but play a small 250/500 clay tournament before Rome and Madrid.

Re: 14' questions

Wouldn't Tomic lose some points (is he defending a title next week?) in January? If that is the case, his ranking could plummer further, which will make his 2014 a bit more difficult, in terms of...

Re: Biggest Loss for Tennis?

Now I just realize that the smallest gain for tennis is Gaston Gaudio's 2004 Roland Garros victory - how many people would still remember it, and how small the impact he made on tennis after winning...

Re: Biggest Loss for Tennis?

Nalbandian wasted so many years due to injuries. I am not sure if he could really have a chance to win a slam in 2008-2013, but had he been injury-free, who knows if he would post 1 big upset victory...

Re: Brisbane Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated December 16, 2013)

This is a very important tournament for Federer to "remember" how to be consistent to win 5 matches in a row. He really needs to at least reach the final!! I am only worried about the 2 dangerous...

Re: Tsonga eyes first grand slam

For the 5 slamless top 10 players (Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga, Gasquet, Wawrinka), who has the best losing records against the big 4?

I would rank the chance of the current top 10 players to win...

ATP players who smoke?

I am curious to know which tennis players (active or retired) smoke, in particular the top-ranked players.

It would be...

Re: Tsonga eyes first grand slam

I personally doubt these players could win a slam: Ferrer, Berdych, Tsonga. They are consistently in the top10 for many years, but they just don't seem to be able to win 7 matches in a row. Their...

Re: 2014 Grand Slam Predictions

I would first list the potential contenders for each GS (just my personal opinion):
* Australian Open: Nadal, Djokovic, Del Potro
* Roland Garros: Nadal, Djokovic
* Wimbledon: Djokovic, Federer,...

Re: Who will win AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2014?

I hope the draw would look like this, so that we will have some surprise results:

5-Del Potro bt 1-Nadal in 5 sets
8-Wawrinka bt 3-Ferrer (or Ferrer would lose before QF)
6-Federer bt 4-Murray...
