Re: Sampras claims he could would still "Serve and Volley" - would he be successful?

He's right. The reason passing shots look so amazing these days is because the approach shots players make are so ridiculous. Almost every approach you see these days has some kind of major error....

Re: Is Becker the worst coach of all time?

Novak served brilliantly. Novak had an extremely high percentage of net points won. Novak's groundstrokes were as brutal as ever (once he got fired up in the fourth set.) What happened in that last...

Re: Rafael “RAFA” Nadal is on the Top of The Slow List

This whole time warning thing is a joke. None of the umpires actually ever do anything about it. It gets broken constantly.

Re: Novak's improved net game.

His net game is pretty much the same as everyone else's. Either come in because he has to or to smack away a floater. If the ball dips at all, try to play a drop volley. Pray the opponent is too...

Re: What does Jerzy Janowicz need to do to move forward in the game?

He needs to stop making those awful noises.

Re: Basel R2: Dimitrov breezes past Dolgopolov 6-3 6-2

Dolgopolov almost looked ill or something. No real energy, even when hitting some stellar shots. Solid from Dimitrov.

Re: why did serve and volley die out in wimbledon

All court play died because people stopped doing it. It could still work if anybody knew how to do it. The few that can do it are sub-par of the greats mentally, physically, or both. The vast...

Re: Aspects of Djokovic's game that are arguably the best ever

No, no, no, and yes. I've never seen anyone more physically flexible than Djokovic.

Re: Nadal or Sampras - When all is said and done when Nadal retires?

At this very moment, I say Sampras because he was the clear dominant player from his era. However, Nadal of course has a couple years yet to add to his record that in many ways already eclipses...

Re: Why Sampras wasn't a servebot

Sampras did have weaknesses. His low backhand volley was suspect in his early years. His ultra-flat forehand would sometimes hemorrhage errors, especially early in his career. Most obviously, his...

Re: USO R1: Defending Champion Andrew Murray def. Llodra 6-2 6-4 6-3

Very sloppy from Llodra, and conversely very solid from Murray. Pretty much what you'd expect. Wish Llodra had given it a better go tonight.

Re: Should Federer just do a Steffi from now on?

Straight-up, Federer's slice isn't good enough for that even if he wanted to. He floats it too much.

He should be ashamed of himself for not being super competitive? A lot of people aren't. So what?

Re: Your opinion of Raonic's behavior

It's just a dumb thing. It's definitely bad sportsmanship, but stuff like this happens constantly. Bad decisions from the chair that players should overturn themselves, but they almost never do. It's...

Re: Players most impacted by surface slowing down/homogenization

US Open surfaced changed in 2003, not 2001. There was no specific year that this took place in. It's been a steady change since 1995.

Re: Newport R1: Przysiężny def. Kozlov 6-3 6-7(9) 6-4

Fifteen-year-old body is incomplete. He'll get stronger. Played a good match in general.

Re: Andy Murray-the first Brit to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Djokovic 6-4 7-5

Novak was hilariously poor at net, and mediocre in general. But a deserved win for Murray. Djokovic stepped it up big time at the end there. Tremendous job fighting through it and taking the match in...
